On the background of reports about tensions in the coalition regarding the advancement of a Chareidi draft law, National Camp chairman Benny Gantz visited the home and yeshivah of HaGaon HaRav Meir Tzvi Bergman in Bnei Brak on Sunday morning. HaRav Bergman, one of the Zakeinei Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah, told Gantz at the beginning of the conversation that his roots in Eretz Yisrael go back six generations – before the Arabs – so no one can have claims about the Jewish presence in Eretz Yisrael. Later in the conversation, Gantz told the Rosh Yeshivah that he doesn’t want to compromise on the draft law but seeks to reach an agreement.

Less than a month before Rosh Hashanah, Ukraine conveyed a message to Israel threatening to block Jews from Uman due to its disgruntlement over Ukrainians who were allegedly deported from Israel. The message was conveyed in a statement in President Volodymyr Zelensky’s weekly briefing to Ukrainian citizens on Friday that was published on the Ukrainian presidential website. “I listened to the reports of the Border Guard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and intelligence on the treatment of our citizens – immigrants who are in different countries, and regarding visa regimes,” Zelensky said, without specifically mentioning Israel. “The issues that the citizens of Ukraine actually face in the visa issue – managers responsible for these issues were given appropriate tasks.

An inspiring photo recently went viral of a Chassidish bochur so immersed in learning Torah that he fails to even see a bear passing by. The incident occurred a week ago in the early hours of the morning. The bochur in the photo, a Belzer bochur named Yehoshua Gantzfried, was standing on the porch of the Belzer Beis Shimon yeshivah in the Catskills and learning with great hasmadah. Suddenly a black bear appeared on the grass in front of the porch and walked the full length of the yard but the bochur didn’t even notice it until it was already well past him.

Sephardim begin reciting Selichos at the start of Chodesh Elul in order to recite the special tefillos for a period of 40 days prior to Yom Kippur, the same period of time that Moshe Rabbeinu was on Har Sinai. Ashkenazim begin reciting Selichos on the Motzei Shabbos (or Sunday morning) before Rosh Hashanah, but if there are less than four days between the beginning of Selichos and Rosh Hashana, then the recital begins on the previous Motzei Shabbos. They just won’t do it!” In his post, Trump also accused Fox News of selectively using unflattering images of him, particularly one that he referred to as the “big ‘orange'” one.

With the Knesset on its summer break and the judicial reform on hold, the anarchists, who are ostensibly against the judicial reform plan, are itching for something to screech about. They were assisted in the task by the left-wing media, which recently blew up a number of stories in recent weeks about so-called discrimination against women in the public sphere. The stories are sometimes false, sometimes widely exaggerated, and in all cases, are completely unconnected to the government. Nevertheless, left-wing groups and some politicians, including Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Lieberman, decided to “protest” against the incidents on Wednesday by creating provocations on separate bus lines.
