President-elect Joe Biden appeared at a theater in downtown Wilmington, Delaware, moving gingerly in a black walking boot he’s worn since breaking his right foot while playing with one of his dogs over the weekend. The president-elect fractured two small bones in the middle of his right foot, according to Biden’s doctor, Kevin O’Connor. The injury, while not serious, again intensifies scrutiny on Biden’s age, given that he recently turned 78 and will be the oldest president ever to enter office when he is inaugurated. When asked about his foot when arriving at the theater, Biden declared only, “Good, thanks for asking.” (AP)

The coronavirus vaccine inching toward approval in the U.S. is desperately anticipated by weary Americans longing for a path back to normal life. Homeland Security investigators are working with Pfizer, Moderna and dozens of other drug companies racing to complete and distribute the vaccine and treatments for the virus. The goal: to prepare for the scams that are coming, especially after the mess of criminal activity this year with phony personal protective equipment, false cures and extortion schemes. “We’re all very excited about the potential vaccine and treatments,” said Steve Francis, assistant director for global trade investigations with Homeland Security Investigations.

The citizens of Israel need a government that is acting for unity.” Netanyahu’s statement follows Opposition leader Yair Lapid’s proposal for dissolving the Knesset and calling for new elections, which is scheduled for Wednesday. Amir Hatami gave a speech after kissing Fakhrizadeh’s casket and putting his forehead against it.

New York’s hospitals must prepare for an expected surge in coronavirus infections by stockpiling masks and gowns, expanding capacity and identifying retired nurses and doctors who could pitch in, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday. Cuomo said that with more than 3,500 people now hospitalized statewide for COVID-19 and more cases expected in the coming weeks, hospitals must draw up plans to redistribute patients both within health care networks and between networks so that no one hospital becomes overwhelmed, as happened when the pandemic first hit New York last spring. The 3,500 figure is up from 900 people hospitalized in late June, Cuomo said, and cases will only rise as New Yorkers gather to celebrate the holidays.
