At Sunday’s press conference, NY Governor Cuomo was asked about the Satmar wedding that the state put the brakes on after learning that thousands may be attending.

President Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden squared off, in a way, Thursday night, their scuttled second debate replaced by dueling televised town halls that showcased striking differences in temperament, views on racial justice and approaches to the pandemic that has reshaped the nation. Trump was defensive about his administration’s handling of the coronavirus, which has claimed more than 215,000 American lives, and evasive when when pressed about whether he took a required COVID-19 test before his first debate with Biden. Angry and combative, he refused to denounce the QAnon conspiracy group —and only testily did so on white supremacists. The president also appeared to acknowledge he was in debt and left open the possibility that some of it was owed to a foreign bank.

This video below says it all. It was taken today, October 15, on Fillmore Avenue and Marine Parkway at the Marine Park basketball court. Zero compliance. No masks. No social distancing whatsoever. Yet – there is no Sheriff, no Police, no DOH, no DOB, no FDNY, no media. NO ENFORCEMENT WHATSOEVER. Is it because these are non-Jews playing in this park? Or is it because just about every single NYC inspectors is busy shutting down Shuls and Jewish-owned business? Why during a pandemic only some communities lose their constitutionally protected rights while others don’t? (YWN World Headquarters – NYC)

President Donald Trump and challenger Joe Biden will compete for TV audiences in dueling town halls on Thursday night instead of meeting face-to-face for their second debate as originally planned. The two will take questions in different cities on different networks: Trump on NBC from Miami, Biden on ABC from Philadelphia. Trump backed out of plans for the presidential faceoff originally scheduled for the evening after debate organizers said it would be held virtually following Trump’s coronavirus diagnosis. The town halls offer a different format for the two candidates to present themselves to voters, after the two held a chaotic and combative first debate late last month.

Driving on the streets of Brazil (and many other South American countries) is fraught with danger, especially when at a stop at red lights, due to street thugs who won’t hesitate to use violence or even murder in order to rob drivers. Moti Rotter, a Chareidi Israeli man now residing in London, is currently in Brazil visiting his wife’s family, B’Chadrei Chareidim reported. As he was driving in São Paulo with his wife on Tuesday afternoon, he stopped at a red light and was accosted by street thugs. “They smashed the window and tried to steal my phone,” Moti told B’Chadrei. “I fought back and wouldn’t give it to them. The phone fell and they tried to grab it from the floor of the car. All this was happening as the car stood at the red light.

A chaotic situation unfolded on Wednesday afternoon, as the media showed up to a prominent Yeshiva which they thought was open. Multiple news outlets were outside the building with cameras hoping to catch children exiting at dismissal. YWN has no knowledge if this Yeshiva was even open today. Meanwhile, a massive group of angry local residents – including dozens of children – began screaming at the reporters to leave the community and stop targeting them. Nearly all of them were wearing masks. A video by BoroPark24 captured the scene, as children yelled “NAZI” and “ANTI-SEMITE” and other obscenities at the reporters. Instead of capturing footage of children in a yeshiva against the Governor’s executive order, the media was given plenty of footage of the crowd yelling at them.

On Wednesday night, police officers and border police officers carried out a sting operation in a home in the town of Givat Ze’ev after they were told by neighbors that dozens of people were congregating inside and were breaking the Health Ministry Regulations. In videos that have surfaced from the incident, a grown man is seen lying on the ground bloodied and being held down by the police. Another man was also seen to be bleeding due to a severe cut caused by broken glass. Family members were screaming and shouting at the officers, “Look what you have done to him.” As more images surfaced it became clear that the incident was a private wedding that was taking place in someone’s backyard.

President Donald Trump says he’s seeking emergency approval for the Regeneron antibody drug. President Trump had touted the therapeutical drug after using it himself following his Covid-19 diagnosis – often calling it a cure. The government reached a $450 million agreement with Regeneron in July to purchase roughly 300,000 treatment doses of the antibody cocktail, which the president said he intends to make free. For the third day in a row, dozens of inspectors have converged in Boro Park and Flatbush to enforce the recent COVID-19 restrictions placed on local businesses by NY Governor Cuomo. Inspectors were seen meeting in a group on Fort Hamilton Parkway near 45th Street, and another group seen on 18th Avenue and 45th Street. [SEE VIDEO BELOW] Dozens of summonses were reportedly doled out on Monday and Tuesday. The summonses are court appearances, with a possible fine (if convicted) of a whopping $15,000. On Monday and Tuesday the inspectors were from the NYC Buildings Department, and on Wednesday, the inspectors appeared to be from the FDNY.

Rav Elya Brudny, Rav Yisroel Reisman and Rav Moshe Tuvia Lieff speak to our community about the continuing dangers of COVID and the need for masking, distancing and testing. See the video below:
