At the time of YWN publishing this article, it had already turned into a national story, with many, many elected officials condemning the incident, as well as news reporters publishing videos on Twitter.

Thousands of protestors gathered in Brooklyn’s Borough Park neighborhood for a second night Wednesday, as demonstrators spoke out against Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s new restrictions on schools, businesses and Shuls in Jewish neighborhoods of the city and state amid an uptick in coronavirus cases. The crowd made it clear they would continue to Daven together despite the statewide mandate to restrict houses of worship in virus “hotspots,” and said they feel Orthodox Jewish communities are being unfairly targeted. The protests were mostly peaceful, with many dancing to Sukkos music, as some held Trump 2020 flags. The NYPD arrived in riot gear, and were greeted warmly with shouts of “Blue Lives Matter”. A small fire was lit on 13th Avenue late at night, but was quickly extinguished.

The two foreign ministers met on Tuesday for discussions on cooperation on issues of mutual interest. On Tuesday evening, a spokesperson for Ashkenazi noted to the Israeli media that the Egyptian television channel Extra News aired the Israeli FM’s remarks in full along with Bin Zayed’s remarks, stressing that the broadcast is “most extraordinary,” especially considering that it was aired on October 6, the anniversary of the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War in 1973.

Hundreds of members of the Borough Park Orthodox community took to the streets Tuesday night defying orders to disperse and lighting a fire in protest of new state-mandated restrictions imposed on area synagogues, schools and non-essential businesses over a COVID-19 surge. One large crowd huddled closely together at the corner of 50th Street and 15th avenue at about 9 p.m. as community activist Heshy Tischler ripped Gov. Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio over the order that shuts down schools completely and limits houses of worship to 10 people in certain COVID-19 hot spots. Much of Borough Park is subject to those measures – the most restrictive – which also shutters non-essential businesses.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said it was a “great honor that the Israeli and Emirati foreign ministers have chosen Berlin as the location for their historic first meeting” since the two countries agreed to normalize relations in a U.S.-brokered deal. The three foreign ministers also visited the Berlin Holocaust Memorial at the initiative of the Emirati foreign minister, according to Walla News reporter Barak Ravid.  Maas told Bin Zayed that Ashkenazi is the son of a Holocaust survivor and Bin Zayed was interested in hearing further details.

Birchas Kohanim at the Kosel took place on Monday, the second day of Chol Hamoed in Israel, in a limited format with only 20 people allowed to participate instead of the tens of thousands that normally flock to the Kosel on Chol Hamoed Sukkos and Pesach for a mass Birchas Kohanim ceremony. Among those present were Chief Rabbis Rav Dovid Lau and Rav Yitzchak Yosef, Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion, Kosel Rav Reb Shmuel Rabinowitz, as well as US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, who himself is a Kohen. “Birchas Kohanim which is written in the Torah holds a promise of protection from harm and peace for Yisrael,” the Kosel Heritage Foundation stated. “During these difficult days, we’re in need of bracha many times over.

President Donald Trump briefly left the military hospital where he is being treated for COVID-19, riding in a vehicle to greet supporters gathered outside. Trump departed the hospital in an armored SUV and remained in the vehicle as he drove past a flag-waving and cheering crowd outside Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Amazon wants to be able to answer the nagging question: Did I leave the stove on? The company unveiled a flying home camera that you can ask to fly to check the stove while you’re out, or to see if you left the windows open. Amazon says the drone will automatically take flight if there’s movement in the house to show you what’s going on. The device was one of several that Amazon unveiled Thursday as part of its annual gadget event. Due to the pandemic, this year’s version was held online instead of at Amazon’s Seattle headquarters. The indoor flying camera, called the Ring Always Home Cam, still needs approval from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, but Amazon said it expects to sell it next year at $250.
