Authorities in Amsterdam are actively searching for a 31-year-old man accused of sending an email threatening to kill three Jewish children at a local Jewish school.
Reports from Dutch media indicate that the school received the threatening messages in early February. The emails contained the chilling statement: “What is happening in Gaza is not okay. I am going to shoot three children from your school. I have been watching them for a while. Enough, you will pay in blood.”
According to the Dutch news outlet AT5, law enforcement has yet to apprehend the suspect. However, they have identified him and believe he is currently residing in Turkey. Prosecutors have confirmed this, with officials stating to multiple media sources: “We believe that the suspect is a 31-year-old man who is currently staying in Turkey and has not yet been arrested.” It remains uncertain whether authorities have formally requested his arrest and extradition from Turkey.
The Cheider School in Amsterdam, the institution that received the threats, remains operational with heightened security measures in place. Unfortunately, incidents like these are not new for Jewish schools in the city.
In October 2023, following the deadly massacre, three Jewish schools in Amsterdam were forced to close temporarily due to threats from Hamas supporters and fears of a potential terror attack.
