Appearing on Newsmax this past Wednesday, Senator Ted Cruz, Republican from Texas, declared that illegal immigration has fallen by 90% during the first month of Donald Trump’s presidency.
During his segment on “Carl Higbie FRONTLINE,” Cruz linked this remarkable drop directly to the president’s vigorous enforcement of immigration laws.
He remarked, “The president has begun enforcing the law. We’ve seen the numbers plummet. They’re 90% down in the first month,” adding, “That’s what happens when you have a president who enforces the law.”
As the chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, Cruz revealed that the administration plans to enhance border security by investing in physical barriers, increasing personnel, and utilizing advanced technology.
He elaborated, “We’re now going to invest in the hard assets like building the wall, like hiring more Border Patrol agents, like getting fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft and technology, getting detention beds, so that we stop this invasion, and we stop it on a permanent basis,” underscoring the commitment to securing the nation’s borders.
Cruz further stated, “We also have a mandate to unleash American energy to unleash American oil and gas production, to lower energy prices, which will lower inflation across the board.”
He also stressed the critical importance of maintaining the 2017 tax cuts, describing them as a fundamental driver of economic growth.
Reflecting on his involvement, he noted, “In 2017, I spent literally hundreds of hours as part of passing the 2017 Trump tax cuts,” and added, “We’ll get it done, and we’ll get it done because failure is not an option.”
Concluding his remarks, he declared, “The American people have given us a job to do. We got to get the job done,” reinforcing his dedication to fulfilling the mandate entrusted to him.
