Yeshiva Kayitz Kingston (YKK) in Pennsylvania suffered some serious flooding due to Tropical Storm Isaias. Incredible footage shows multiple feet of water flooding the campgrounds. The camp owners tell YWN that everyone is Boruch Hashem in a safe location and not in any danger whatsoever. The camp is in Pennsylvania this year. (Normally in Kingston NY). Tropical Storm Isaias is packing dangerous winds and heavy rain as it rapidly heads toward the Tri-State after making landfall as a hurricane near Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. On the forecast track, the center of Isaias will to move near or along the coast of New Jersey by this afternoon. The primary threat from Isaias will be the torrential rainfall, but we also expect wind gusts up to 50 mph and possible tornadoes. Tornado watches have been issued for all of New York City, as well as Long Island, Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam counties until 4 p.m. Tuesday. The watch also applies to a number of New Jersey counties and Connecticut’s Fairfield County. The greatest risk of tornadoes is midday from southeast Virginia to New Jersey, forecasters say. The Venetian Cafe on Route 42 in South Fallsburg was destroyed by a fire overnight. The fire started at around 3:00AM, and numerous fire departments from around Sullivan County were called to assist in extinguishing the blaze. At 4:30AM, firefighters were still trying to bring the fire under control. The restaurant is a dairy establishment, and is frequented by many people. Fire investigators were requested to the scene to determine what caused the blaze. Catskills Hatzolah was on the scene assisting, but thankfully, there were no injuries reported. A massive fire broke out in Camp Agudah in Ferndale on Thursday morning, leaving at least one building destroyed. The fire department was called to the camp at around 7:00AM, reporting fire in a building known as “The Ranch”, which houses a game room, two class rooms, among other uses. The fast-moving fire left the structure totally destroyed, before spreading to a second building, which houses arts and crafts, and the canteen. At 8:45AM, firefighters were still trying to get the blaze under control, and the second structure had already suffered significant damage. A fire investigator was on the scene trying to determine the cause of the blaze. Due to COVID-19, the camp had relocated to New Hampshire for this summer. Unfortunately, this is the second fire this year to hit the camp.

On Tuesday July 21, 2020, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to an ATV accident on State Route 17B, just west of Kaufman Road in the Town of Thompson. At the location deputies found that a 2012 Yamaha 250 had been traveling westbound when the driver lost control and crossed into the eastbound lane, striking a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. The ATV operator was ejected and suffered fatal injuries. The operator was identified as Jeffery Savage, age 29, of East Stroudsburg, PA. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Sullivan County Coroner Alan Kesten. The investigation by Sheriff’s detectives revealed that Savage had left his home in East Stroudsburg early in the morning on Tuesday and drove 66 miles on his ATV to Monticello to pick up a car part that he needed.

A gunman posing as a FedEx delivery person shot and killed the 20-year-old son of a federal judge and wounded her husband at their New Jersey home before fleeing, authorities said. The shooting happened Sunday evening at the North Brunswick home of U.S. District Judge Esther Salas, and killed her son, Daniel, Chief District Judge Freda Wolfson told The Associated Press. Her husband, defense lawyer Mark Anderl, was injured in the attack, Wolfson said. Investigators are examining a possible connection between the shooting and the body of a man found dead Monday from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Sullivan County, New York, a law enforcement official said.

Authorities say a New York City man died after falling off a tube he was using to float down the Delaware River in northeastern Pennsylvania over the weekend. The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area said Sunday that the 51-year-old man, who was not wearing a life jacket, was with a group of people floating on tubes in the river in Pike County but became separated from them, fell into the water and went under. Emergency crews were called to the area of Tocks Island in Warren County, New Jersey, about six miles north of Delaware Water Gap and the Interstate 80 toll bridge.

Three maintenance workers at a summer getaway overdosed in Kiamisha on Thursday afternoon. It happened just after 4:00PM at the Munkatcher Camp on Route 42, when the three men suffered a drug overdose. Catskills Hatzolah Paramedics was on the scene in minutes and began administering Narcan to all three victims. Two of the victims were in cardiac arrest. MobileMedics were requested to respond to assist Hatzolah with transporting the victims to the hospital. The Sullivan County Sheriff Department was on the scene investigating. The Chevra Kaddisha was not needed in this tragic incident. The camp is a bungalow colony with a day camp on premises. The head of the New York State Troopers PBA issued a statement Wednesday “demanding” that state troopers be removed from New York City “and cease any law enforcement activities within that jurisdiction.” According to the PBA Head, the new regulations would “criminalize methods of restraint, including putting any pressure on a person’s chest or back.” FOLLOWING IS THE FULL STATEMENT: As President of the New York State Troopers PBA, I am demanding that New York State Police Superintendent Keith Corlett immediately remove all uniformed State Troopers currently stationed within New York City and cease any law enforcement activities within that jurisdiction.
