As the Senate’s impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump began Tuesday in Washington, a matter even more important to his immediate future is being discussed some 990 miles to the south by the Palm Beach Town Council: Whether he can continue living at Mar-a-Lago. The council members will hear their attorney’s opinion on whether the town can bar Trump from living at his club. That was the deal Trump’s lawyer offered nearly 30 years ago: He told the town in 1993 that Trump would be prohibited from living there if it allowed him to convert it from a residence to a club. But this promise was not specifically included in the written agreement, which may take precedence.

A court in Warsaw ruled Tuesday that two prominent Holocaust researchers must apologize to a woman who claimed her deceased uncle had been slandered in a historical work, citing alleged inaccuracies that suggested the Polish man helped kill Jews during World War II. Lawyers for 81-year-old Filomena Leszczynska argued that the scholars had unfairly harmed her good name and that of her family, violating the honor of the uncle. The family says he saved Jews during the German occupation of Poland during World War II. The District Court in Warsaw did not, however, rule that they should be forced to pay her 100,000 zlotys ($27,000), as her lawyers had demanded. The case has been closely watched because it was expected to set a precedent in the field of Holocaust research.

Director of Public Health Services in Israel, Dr. Sharon Alroy Preis told the Constitutional Committee of the Knesset earlier this week that due to the 2.5 million children in Israel under the age of 16, it is unlikely that the country will ever reach herd immunity. This holds true according to Preis, even if the entirety of the rest of the population were to take the vaccine, the fact that one-quarter of the population cannot be vaccinated would prevent the herd immunity from taking place. The comments were made on the context of the country officially exiting its third lockdown that lasted 6 weeks, but without opening schools. “We met the standards established by the Health Ministry in terms of the goals of this lockdown and we are below a morbidity reproduction rate of 1.

Another Israeli mother was attached to an ECMO machine overnight Monday at Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikvah. The 40-year-old woman was hospitalized about ten days ago after she contracted the coronavirus in her 28th week of pregnancy. On Monday, she suffered a deterioration in her condition and was sedated and ventilated. Unfortunately, a few hours later her condition deteriorated further and the doctors made a decision to deliver her baby by emergency C-section and attached her to an ECMO machine. “Due to her early stage of pregnancy, we tried to wait as long as possible before delivering the baby,” said Dr. Ilya Kagan, the director of the coronavirus intensive care unit.

Ivanka Trump is privately urging her father – Donald – to cut ties with Marjorie Taylor Greene fearing the Jewish community will hold it against her in a possible election bid, the Daily Mail is reporting. Controversial Congresswoman Taylor Greene has expressed her belief in the QAnon conspiracy theory which is rich in anti-Semitism. She also signed an online posting in 2018 that accused Jewish billionaire George Soros and the Rothschild family of being involved in the conspiracy, which alleges that powerful figures run an international pedophile ring and influence world policy. Speculation has been swirling for months that Ivanka will run for the US Senate in Florida in 2022.

An Israeli hospital director told Army Radio on Monday that a quarter of his current coronavirus patients are under the age of 50. Dr. Masad Barhoum, head of the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya, warned of a fourth wave of the virus, saying that an extension of a hermetic nationwide lockdown for another two weeks is essential. “Most of the patients have the British variant. The fear in reopening schools is the infection rate and illness in children and young people,” Barhoum said, adding that younger people are dismissing the true risk of the virus and are not getting vaccinated. “This population doesn’t want to get vaccinated,” Barhoum lamented. “Furthermore, the public is burned out after five weeks of a partial-lockdown.
