Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in China, there have been reports that the virus affects men more seriously than women. However, during the first coronavirus wave in Israel, there wasn’t a significant difference between the number of male and female seriously ill coronavirus patients. However, the situation has changed and in the past two weeks, there has been a marked increase in the number of seriously ill male patients in Israel as a result of the coronavirus, with over twice the amount of male patients who are currently sedated and ventilated than female patients.

A poll conducted in Israel last week and published for the first time on Sunday by Channel 13 revealed for the first time that a government could be formed without the help of the Likud, Arab Joint List party, Meretz, or the Charedi parties. The survey, which was conducted by pollster Prof.Camil Fuchs showed that Yamina leader Naftali Bennett could gain enough support to be able to form a government without Netanyahu and his supporters in the Charedi parties or the parties on the far left. The poll, which surveyed 1,102 respondents representing a statistical sample of the Israeli adult population, revealed that should an election be held today, Likud would win 27 seats and Yamina would be hot on their tails with 24.

Following the stringent lockdown that was placed on the city of Bnei Brak beginning during the early hours of Sunday morning, violence erupted in the city between residents and security officials at various points in the city. On Rabbi Akiva Street, a number of residents attempted to surround and block a police cruiser that was driving on the street. During an attempt to recover the vehicle a video was taken of a police officer running towards one of the protesters pick him up and throw him down on the ground. From the video, it is difficult to tell what caused the actions of the officer. Residents are furious at the intense lockdown that was place don the city and claim that the city has been randomly selected, as this type of lockdown was snot placed on other “red cities”.

Israel confirmed on Sunday that it will require travelers from the United Kingdom to enter quarantine for two weeks upon arrival in Israel. The regulation goes into effect at the end of the week, on Friday, October 23. However, anyone who has already contracted the coronavirus may be able to receive an exemption from quarantine, as YWN reported on Sunday. Israel’s Health Ministry issued a new directive last week which will allow travelers arriving from red countries to receive an exemption from quarantine by presenting positive serological (antibody) tests. The UK was previously on Israel’s list of “green countries,” from which travelers could arrive in Israel and not be required to quarantine.

Secretary-General of the PLO Executive Committee and Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat, who is ill with the coronavirus, was evacuated from his home to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem on Sunday. The Palestinian Authority made a special request from Israel for Erekat to be treated in an Israeli hospital. Magen David Adom, escorted by IDF soldiers, carried out the transfer from his home in the Palestinian city of Yericho. Erekat, 65, who has underlying medical issues, was diagnosed with the coronavirus two weeks ago and his condition took a turn for the worse recently. He had a lung transplant three years ago in the US due to suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, which leads to scarring of the lungs. He also suffered a heart attack in 2012.

About 30 children in Israel, including three in intensive care, are currently hospitalized due to multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C), a rare and life-threatening COVID-19 complication. The syndrome, which may appear weeks after the coronavirus infection, can cause inflammation in multiple organs, although most of the reported cases in Israel have been related to heart inflammation and some to liver inflammation. The children in intensive care are nine and ten-year-old girls and a 16-year-old boy. They are hospitalized at the Kaplan Medical Center in Rechovot. The ten-year-old girl, who is Chareidi, is in serious but stable condition and the two others are in moderate condition, according to Dr.

NYS Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein released an update on the current situation with Governor Cuomop’s shutdown, but tore into NY Governor Cuomo in his message. Eichenstein minced no words as he blasted the Governor for taking his “hate-driven messaging to a National audience”. Israel began implementing the first steps in emerging from its four-week nationwide lockdown on Sunday, including the reopening of the Kosel plaza for a restricted amount of mispallelim in capsules.
