An unmanned spacecraft is set to land on the moon today in the first US lunar landing attempt since the Apollo era. The mission, developed by NASA and Houston-based Intuitive Machines, will aim to land the Odysseus spacecraft, nicknamed “Odie,” near the lunar south pole at 5:30 p.m. ET.
If successful, it would mark the first US vehicle on the moon in more than 50 years.
If it fails, Odie would become the third lunar lander to meet its demise on the lunar surface in less than a year.
Only three other countries — China, India and Japan — have reached the moon with robotic vehicles in the 21st century.

On Monday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams encountered aggressive protesters who support Hamas and its murderous terrorists who love killing, maiming and assaulting Jews.
Upon exiting a vehicle, Adams faced a protester who questioned, “How many killed Palestinian children will it take for you to call for a ceasefire?”
Adams remained composed and directly addressed the protester, stating, “Bring the hostages home.”
The protester was left momentarily speechless, only able to respond with “Wow.”
As Adams departed, the group continued yelling like lunatics, “Eric Adams you can’t hide, you’re supporting genocide.”
