The busses started arriving around 1 PM from South Bend, Indiana, and Cleveland, Ohio, St. Louis, Missouri, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and of course Chicago, Illinois, depositing dozens of 7th grade boys in white shirts, some with their hats and jackets, eager with anticipation about what the day would bring. It was the start of the 2nd annual Asifa L’Bnei Aliya, a program arranged by Agudath Israel of Illinois to benefit nearly 330 boys from Yeshiva Day Schools across the Midwest. Hosted this year at the beautiful Ateres Ayala Simcha Hall in Skokie, Illinois, the program was packed with something for everyone.

Baalebatim participating in this year’s iteration of Yarchei Kallah at Mir Yerushalayim were graced by a visit from the legendary Slabodker rosh yeshiva, HaGaon Harav Dov Laundau shlit”a. Magen David Adom joined an international multi-casualty drill that took place yesterday. Three different scenes representing three different sized incidents were practiced. As part of the drill concluding the annual disaster workshop arranged by the Madrid Municipality, 1,200 emergency personnel, including staff from MDA alongside EMS crews from other countries such as Great Britain, The Netherlands, Mauritania and Norway took part in the exercise. Other participants included the city emergency and security services, several hospitals, military forces, the Spanish National Police and the Civil Guard.

A fundraiser for Rep. Mike Lawler in Wesley Hills headlined by Republican House Minority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise and joined by several other congressmen from across the country was attended by various high-ranking members of the chasidish community, just a day after President Biden begged them to support incumbent Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney. Chasidic dignitaries in attendance included New Square Mayor Izzy Spitzer, Kaser (Vizhnitz) Mayor Eli Pinkasowitz, Airmont Deputy Mayor Shimon Moses, Chestnut Ridge Trustee Chaim Gross, Pomona Village Trustee Mendy Lasker, activist Yossi Gestetner, and others. World-famous mentalist Lior Suchard and Jewish music star Avraham Fried and Mordechai Shapiro wowed a sold-out crowd of 3,000 people in Jerusalem’s International Convention Center (ICC) last night (Thursday). The annual concert held by United Hatzalah, which took after a 2-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, was attended by a number of celebrities including the former US ambassador to Israel and United Hatzalah trustee David Friedman, Ben Shapiro, and others. Mordechai Shapiro, who was performing at the concert for the third time, opened the evening and roused the crowd with some of his classic hits as well as some new material.

Tens of thousands of people packed into the Kosel plaza on Monday night for Erev Yom Kippur slichos, as authorities announced that more than a million people had come to the Kosel over the course of Elul. In attendance at the slichos Monday night were some of the leading rabbanim in Eretz Yisroel, including Harav Yitzchok Yosef shlit”a, Harav Dovid Lau shlit”a, and Harav Shmuel Rabinowitz shlit”a, as well as other well known individuals, including Yerushalayim Mayor Moshe Lyon, Western Wall Heritage Foundation president Mordechai Eliav, and others.
