The U.N. General Assembly strongly supported a nonbinding Palestinian resolution Wednesday demanding that Israel end its “unlawful presence” in Gaza and the West Bank within a year. The vote in the 193-member world body was 124-14, with 43 abstentions. Among those in opposition was the United States, Israel’s closest ally. The resolution was adopted as Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza approaches its first anniversary and as violence in the West Bank reaches new highs. Troubled efforts to broker a cease-fire deal in Gaza and are pressing ahead, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken meeting fellow mediators Wednesday in Egypt, even as attacks elsewhere in the region raise fears of escalating conflict in the Middle East. Two-way radios, laptops, cellphones, and other communication equipment used by Hezbollah are reportedly exploding all across southern Lebanon, barely a day after thousands of Hezbollah terrorists were injured when their pagers suddenly exploded. Videos emerging from Lebanon show panic at a funeral for the son of a Hezbollah MP who was killed in yesterday’s explosion, as well as fires breaking out in vehicles and apartments that apparently had the radios in them. The IDF announced on Wednesday morning that four soldiers were killed in combat in the southern Gaza Strip on Tuesday. The soldiers were killed in Rafah after a building they were inside exploded, the IDF said. Five others were injured in the blast, three seriously and two moderately. The soldiers were on a mission to find weapons in the Tel Sultan neighborhood when the blast occurred. The casualties include the first female IDF soldier to be killed during the ground war in Gaza: Staff Sgt. Agam Naim, H’yd, 20, from Mishmarot, a kibbutz in north-central Israel, who served as a paramedic in the 52nd Battalation in the 401st Armored Brigade. The other three soldiers all served in the Shaked Battalion of the Givati Brigade. They were identified as Staff Sgt.

The mysterious explosions of pagers that rocked Lebanon and Syria today, leaving over 1,000 people injured, were beepers recently acquired by Hezbollah as a supposed security measure. In February, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah instructed members to abandon cellphone use, citing concerns that Israeli intelligence could track their communications. The shift to pagers was intended to enhance operational security. A Hezbollah official, speaking anonymously to The Associated Press, revealed that the exploded pagers were a new brand. However, the official declined to disclose how long they had been in use. Experts suggest that the pager explosions indicate a sophisticated, long-planned operation.

Sky News in Arabic reported on Tuesday evening that Israel’s Mossad is behind the explosion of Hezbollah operatives’ communication devices in Lebanon. According to the report, the Mossad inserted explosive materials into the batteries of the communication devices and detonated them by raising the temperature of the batteries. The Mossad spy agency intercepted Hezbollah’s communication devices before they were delivered to the group. The Mossad reportedly attached PETN, a powerful explosive, to the devices’ batteries and remotely triggered the explosions by increasing the batteries’ temperature. It was also reported that the insertion of the explosive materials was carried out before the devices reached Hezbollah.

Thousands of Dati Leumi Yeshiva students were filmed singing and dancing in dozens of major Yeshivos around Eretz Yisroel, Tuesday. The boys broke into joyous singing as word spread of the high number of deaths and wounded in the “Hezbollah pager explosions”. As of this posting, nearly 4,000 Hezbollah terrorists have been maimed or killed in the attacks. Hezbollah members recently began using the pagers that exploded after the group’s leader ordered them to stop using cell phones over concern that Israeli intelligence could track the devices. Experts have shared two competing theories as to how hundreds of pagers could have exploded simultaneously. One theory is that there was a cybersecurity breach, causing the pagers’ lithium batteries to overheat and detonate.

There was an unusual incident in the Dahiyeh neighborhood of Beirut, Lebanon, where Hezbollah’s headquarters are located. According to reports from the scene, dozens of Hezbollah terrorists were wounded due to the explosion of communication devices. A series of communication devices used by Hezbollah exploded simultaneously at several locations in Lebanon, including in the Dahiyeh neighborhood and the south of the country. These devices were intended for internal, encrypted messaging and several media reports are saying that Israeli hacked the portable devices and caused them to explode. A source told Reuters that he personally witnessed at least 10 Hezbollah terrorists bleeding from wounds caused by the blasts.

The Shin Bet thwarted a Hezbollah attempt to assassinate a former senior Israeli security official which was set to be carried out in the coming days, the Shin Bet revealed on Tuesday afternoon. In its announcement, the Shin Bet also revealed for the first time that Hezbollah was behind the attempted attack in Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv in September 2023. The Shin Bet found a Claymore explosive device, which is known to be used by Hezbollah, with a remote activation mechanism based on a camera and a cell phone  that was set to be activated by Hezbollah from Lebanon. “Operational preparation and the activity of the forces prevented the attack in the final stages of implementation,” the Shin Bet stated.

Likud MK Dan Illouz and Religious Zionist MK Tzvi Sukkot sent a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu last week demanding the urgent cancellation of the gas agreement between Israel and Lebanon signed by the previous government in 2022 under then interim prime minister Yair Lapid. In their letter, they emphasized that “in light of the daily attacks on Israel from Lebanon since October 7, there is no longer any justification for maintaining the existing agreement.” The MKs noted that along with many other politicians, they warned of the severe possible repercussions at the time of the signing of the deal – that it will be seen as a sign of weakness and invite further attacks.

Israel’s security cabinet has added a new war goal: to return the residents of the north to their homes, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced early Tuesday morning. Israel’s security cabinet met in the Kiryah in Tel Aviv on Tuesday night following the meetings of US special envoy Amos Hochstein with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant earlier in the day. Hochstein flew to Israel as part of the Biden administration’s last-ditch attempt to forge a diplomatic solution to the Hezbollah terror group’s ongoing attacks on Israel. However, both Gallant and Netanyahu made it clear to Hochstein that “the window for a diplomatic solution” has passed and Israel must do what it takes to restore security to its northern border.
