An “alarming” two-thirds of digital content creators share unverified information with millions of followers, per a Nov. 27 UNESCO “landmark study.” The U.N. agency states that it is partnering with the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas to create “the first ever-global training course for digital content creators.”

Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for António Guterres, the U.N. secretary-general, said that the United Nations wants to make sure that everyone associated with it “takes special care not to pass along any disinformation.”

On Sunday, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that he considers the firebombing of a Melbourne Shul on Friday to be a terrorist attack, reported The Sydney Morning Herald.
According to the Prime Minister, Australian Federal Police and Victoria Police are scheduled to meet in Melbourne on Monday to decide if the attack should be considred a terror attack.
Weighing in on the matter, Albansese said: “If you want my personal view: quite clearly, terrorism is something that is aimed at creating fear in the community and the atrocities that occurred at the synagogue in Melbourne clearly were designed to create fear in the community and therefore, from my personal perspective, certainly fulfill that definition of terrorism.”

Donald Trump has broken his silence in response to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad’s flight from the country. Assad, fleeing by plane to an undisclosed location, left as rebel forces surged into the capital city of Damascus. Onlookers flooded the city’s central square, celebrating the turn of events and chanting “freedom.” As Assad’s military withdrew, rebels entered the gates of Damascus on Sunday, December 8, according to reports from witnesses cited by the New York Post.

On Sunday morning, the Syrian rebel forces announced that “the free Syrian people have toppled the regime of Bashar Al-Assad.”
Earlier, the rebels had announced that they had gone “beyond enemy lines” in the Syrian capital, Damascus, where a search was ongoing for President Bashar Al-Assad.
According to two sources in the rebel forces, there did not appear to be any Syrian army deployment in Damascus.  Al Jazeera reported that officers and security officials withdrew from the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Damascus.

President-elect Donald Trump signaled on Saturday that he believes the United States should not get involved in the conflict in Syria, sending a signal about possible future U.S. policy toward the region as rebel groups made stunning advances to encircle the Syrian capital of Damascus.
“Syria is a mess, but is not our friend, & THE UNITED STATES SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT,” Trump warned in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, while in Paris for the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral and meetings with world leaders. “THIS IS NOT OUR FIGHT. LET IT PLAY OUT. DO NOT GET INVOLVED!”
