A group of over 100 migrants made an attempt to cross into the US unlawfully by storming a border wall on Thursday, breaching razor wire defenses and overpowering guards in the process. This incident unfolded amidst the presence of approximately 600 migrants congregated at the international border, with Texas National Guard units striving to repel them in smaller clusters.

Tensions escalated as the groups became segregated, with footage capturing migrants beseeching for assistance while making a frantic rush towards the border gate. Clad in hoodies, gloves, and winter attire, a contingent of men forcibly dismantled sections of fencing as a defensive cordon of five guards attempted to plug the breach.
While some migrants exhibited gestures of surrender by raising their hands, others swiftly surged through, forcibly displacing the guards in their path. Concurrently, members of the group converged at the border gate, vociferating towards the National Guardsmen stationed on the opposite side, prompting swift maneuvers by the Texas National Guard to fortify the area.
Texas has mobilized its National Guard units along the Mexican border as part of Governor Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star initiative. Earlier in the week, preparations commenced for the enforcement of SB4, a novel legislation empowering state and local authorities to effectuate arrests for unauthorized entry. However, an appellate court intervened, halting the enforcement following a Supreme Court directive to allow the law to come into effect.
