On Wednesday, the IDF announced it is calling up two reserve brigades for operations in the north.
Speaking at a training exercise in the north, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Herzi Halevi said: “We are not stopping. The Air Force is striking all day, and we are preparing for an operation.”
By calling up an additional two brigades, the IDF says this will allow it’s fight against Hezbollah to continue. While this reserve mobilization is significant, the number of soldiers called up so far falls below what many would expect for a ground invasion of Lebanon. Prior to the ground invasion in Gaza, hundreds of thousands of IDF reservists were called into action.
The IDF emphasized it’s operations were aimed at achieving the conditions for a safe return of northern Israeli residents to their homes.
