Thousands of Breslover Chassidim from Israel, who were stuck at the borders of Ukraine and Romania after their return from Uman, have successfully made it back home due to the efforts of Transportation Minister Miri Regev.
On Tuesday night, Regev engaged in discussions with Romania’s Sorin Grindeanu. During their conversation, Grindeanu assured Regev that he would expedite the processing of the Israelis’ cases and address their needs, which included providing food, beverages, and suitable lodging until their flights to Israel could be arranged.
Regev shared with Arutz Sheva, “We are working around the clock in order to bring all the Israelis home safely, as quickly as possible. I call on all travelers to show patience and listen to the instructions of local authorities. We are doing everything we can to ensure the welfare and comfort of our citizens.”
Despite the ongoing conflict, Regev instructed that airspace remain open and that air travel should proceed as normal. Flights to Baku and other nearby destinations are being operated by both Israeli and foreign airlines, unaffected by the Transportation Ministry, as these include both regular commercial services and charter flights arranged by various travel agencies.
A joint operations center was established by the Finance Ministry and Transportation Ministry to facilitate the return of travelers to Israel. Additionally, a hotline set up by the Foreign Ministry is available to assist travelers in finding accessible destinations with available flights to Israel.
