Karoline Leavitt, who is set to become the White House spokesperson, shared with Walla today that President-elect Donald Trump intends to enforce stricter sanctions on Iran, adopt a firm approach toward terrorism, and strengthen America’s alliance with Israel.
“President Trump will be America’s negotiator-in-chief and will prioritize bringing innocent hostages back home,” she stated.
Families of Israeli hostages and advocates working for their release are paying close attention to President-elect Trump’s actions, optimistic that he might succeed where President Joe Biden has not: persuading Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire in Gaza in exchange for hostages currently held by Hamas.
With less than two months until Trump takes office, the prospect of achieving both the hostages’ release and a truce in Gaza remains remote.
If no progress is made, Trump will likely inherit this complex situation, including the unresolved fate of seven American hostages still in Hamas custody. Reports suggest that at least four of them are alive.
