New Jersey Representative Jeff Van Drew has reiterated his assertion that the mysterious drones seen in the state are originating from a mothership off the East Coast, criticizing Pentagon officials for misleading the public and withholding crucial details about the drones’ origins.
On Thursday, Van Drew (R-NJ) remained firm in his stance, even after a Pentagon spokesperson refuted his claims the day before, stating that the unidentified flying objects were not linked to Iran.
“These drones very well could be launched from a ship. It could be hundreds of miles out at sea. These types of drones go much greater distances … Could it be China? Absolutely. Could it be somebody else? It sure could,” Van Drew remarked during a Fox News interview on Thursday.
He emphasized that the Pentagon remains clueless about the identity of the drones or their point of origin.
“They don’t know what it is. They don’t know what it’s about. They haven’t taken one down to analyze it. They have no idea where it came from,” he said.
Van Drew maintained that his sources are highly credible and suggested that Iran may have a vessel off the East Coast, operating near and within the waters.
“We are not being told the truth,” he insisted, accusing the Pentagon of treating the American public as though they were “stupid.”
Over the past several weeks, large drones have been observed flying through the night skies over New Jersey, perplexing local residents with their flashing lights and erratic movements.
At times, multiple drones have been spotted flying in formation, and these sightings have extended to parts of New York as well.
The initial reports began on November 18, and the phenomena have continued nightly. Both local and federal officials have stated that they believe the drones pose no risk to public safety.
Despite this official reassurance, other political figures have also raised concerns about the drones. One such figure is Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who shares Van Drew’s belief that there is more being kept from the American public.
“Number one, I’m gonna call it total bulls–t that no one knows what these are, and I think it’s a slap in the face to the American people to say they don’t know what this is,” Greene remarked on Thursday.
“They can track down a guy that just killed a CEO, but they can’t identify what [these] nightly drones are and where they’re coming from. I think that is absolutely disgusting to lie to the American people like this.”
Greene acknowledged that if Pentagon officials were truthful — and genuinely did not know anything about the drones — it would indicate a serious security concern for the country.
“Secondly, if they’re telling the truth, this country is in horrible shape. We’re all in danger. I mean, seriously, if our great government can’t identify what these drones are — that are flying every single night and people are sitting out there videoing with their cell phones — then no American is safe.”
Like Van Drew, Greene believes the Pentagon has more information than it is revealing.
“I think our Pentagon knows. Our Pentagon should know,” she remarked. “I’m not privy to that information…we’re not in control yet, but I’m going to call them a bunch of liars because I think they’re full of [garbage],” she declared.
“If they don’t know, they need to resign in shame. That’s what I think and we need people in charge who can know. But I don’t buy it at all.”
