The commander of the Israel Defense Forces’ 431st Brigade, Col. Ayub Kayuf, was lightly wounded during counterterror operations in Tulkarem, according to the military.
Kayuf suffered a shrapnel wound to the arm when an explosive device detonated against his armored personnel carrier, and was transferred to a medical facility for treatment.
Brig. Gen. Yaki Dolf, commander of the 877th Division, who was also in the APC, was unharmed.
The Tulkarem operation began overnight Monday under the direction of the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet). So far, six terrorists have been killed in close combat and airstrikes, according to the military. Security forces have arrested some 18 terror suspects and uncovered explosives.
The Palestinian Authority Health Ministry reported that eight people, including two women, have been killed during the ongoing operation in the city.
One Palestinian was wounded during clashes that broke out when Israeli forces entered the student dormitories at A-Najah University in Shechem, according to Ynet. JNS
