Vice President Kamala Harris faced criticism for making an awkward statement where she tried to advise California wildfire victims to “find anything that” would help them “be patient” amid the crisis.
Harris was quoted saying, “It’s critically important that, to the extent you can find anything that gives you an ability to be patient in this extremely dangerous and unprecedented crisis, that you do,” in a video shared on X by RNC Research.
She reportedly made this comment during a meeting where she, President Joe Biden, and other officials were discussing the federal government’s ongoing response to the devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area. During the same meeting, Biden informed the public that wildfire victims would receive “a one-time payment of $770,” as reported by News Nation.
In response to Harris’s statement, several people mocked her for what they called a “word salad,” with one person remarking that such speeches would be “off the menu” once President-elect Donald Trump takes office. “Word salads are off the menu after January 20th,” the person wrote. Former Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis also chimed in, commenting, “No thoughts just word salad.” Another individual pointed out, “She was almost president.” A user added, “Foreign countries get told to expect the multi-billion dollar money transfer ASAP. Americans get told the virtue of being patient.”
These comments came as the Los Angeles area grappled with destructive wildfires that have caused widespread damage, with many residents losing their homes and businesses.
