President Trump announced today that he intends to transfer up to 30,000 undocumented immigrants to detention centers at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, as part of his initiative to deport large numbers of migrants who have engaged in criminal activity.
“Today, I am also signing an executive order directing the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to start setting up the 30,000-person migrant facility at Guantanamo Bay,” Trump stated while endorsing the anti-illegal immigration Laken Riley Act. “Many people are unaware that we have the capacity for 30,000 detainees in Guantanamo to hold the most dangerous criminal illegal aliens posing a threat to the American public.”
Trump added that “some of them are so bad we don’t even trust the countries to hold them, because we don’t want them coming back.”
“So we’re going to send them out to Guantanamo,” he said.
“This will double our capacity immediately, right? And tough. It’s a tough it’s a tough place to get out of.”
