Hamas expressed surprise over the Israeli reaction after the terror group handed over a body yesterday that it claimed was Shiri Bibas, but which Israeli officials determined was not.
In a statement, Hamas stated that it would “examine these allegations very seriously” and provide an update on the findings of its investigation.
The statement from Hamas repeated its assertion that there might have been an “error or mix up” regarding the bodies found in the aftermath of an Israeli airstrike, which it claimed killed Shiri and her two young sons, Ariel and Kfir. However, Israel confirmed the previous night that Ariel and Kfir, whose remains were identified after being handed over, were murdered by terrorists while in captivity.
Hamas has called on Israel to return the body of the Palestinian woman it handed over yesterday, which it claims was mistakenly exchanged for Shiri.
The terror group reaffirmed its commitment to the current ceasefire-hostage release agreement and pledged to fulfill “all of our obligations,” asserting that it had no intention of keeping any bodies of hostages.
