A striking 75 percent of Democratic voters reject the notion that President Joe Biden’s administration intentionally allowed migrants to pour into the country, according to a poll conducted by Harvard Harris in February.
The survey, carried out between February 19 and 20 among 2,443 registered voters, follows closely after President Donald Trump swiftly took action to halt Biden’s costly, harmful, and chaotic migration policies as soon as he returned to office.
Meanwhile, a majority of Americans—52 percent—along with an overwhelming 80 percent of Republican voters, believe that Biden’s administration, under the leadership of pro-migration border chief Alejandro Mayorkas, actively facilitated the entry of approximately nine million migrants from the southern border.
These unauthorized entrants made their way into the U.S. through an array of questionable legal loopholes and unlawful channels, including programs like “parole” and “Welcome Corps at Work.” Their arrival was backed by billions in government spending and framed as an economic benefit.
Despite extensive indications that the administration pursued an intentional strategy, 75 percent of Democrats denied that this was their policy choice.
Similarly, 51 percent of voters who identify as independents or with other political affiliations also dismissed the idea that the administration had deliberately implemented an open-border policy.
The survey posed the question: “Do you think Democrats deliberately kept the Southern border open to bring millions of immigrants into the country illegally, or was that not their deliberate policy?”
Elon Musk weighed in on the issue via Twitter, characterizing the Democrats’ stance on open borders as an act of betrayal:
“It’s not just that borders were ‘left open.’ There was a massive, concerted campaign to usher in as many illegals as possible on an unprecedented scale in order to achieve permanent one-party rule.”
Musk’s perspective on immigration, however, is somewhat complicated—he firmly opposes unlawful entry but supports substantial numbers of white-collar migrants through the unlimited H-1B visa program, a system that has displaced countless American college graduates from promising careers.
The unwillingness of Democratic voters to acknowledge their party’s deliberate actions on border policy may stem from a psychological need to avoid confronting the severe consequences of these decisions.
The fallout from this mass migration has inflicted serious harm—both on the American population and on the very migrants whom Democrats claim to advocate for and protect.
