In a new interview, former President Joe Biden revealed to President Trump that he held fellow former President Barack Obama responsible for the Democrats’ crushing defeat in the 2024 election.
Trump shared with The Spectator World that he had visited the White House to meet with an “angry” Biden shortly after he had triumphed over Vice President Kamala Harris, who had replaced Biden on the Democratic ticket after he dropped out of the race due to growing concerns over his age and abilities.
“I asked him, I said, ‘So who do you blame?’ Because he was very angry, you know, he was a very angry guy, actually. And he said, ‘I blame Barack,’” Trump recounted.
“And he said, ‘And I also blame [former House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi.’ I said, ‘What about the vice president?’ He said, ‘No, I don’t blame her,’ which was interesting.”
“He didn’t blame [Harris]. He blamed … he told me he blamed those two people,” the president added.
Initially, Obama had advised Democratic leaders to support Biden following his poor debate performance on June 27. However, by mid-July, concerns over Biden’s mental and physical fitness led Obama to reportedly turn against his longtime friend.
The 44th president had met with Pelosi (D-Calif.) to express their shared worries.
Biden, 82, exited the race on July 21 and quickly endorsed Harris, who ultimately failed to secure a victory against Trump after only a few months of intense campaigning.
Although Biden has previously acknowledged that figures like Pelosi and other party leaders pressured him to step aside for a second term, he has refrained from publicly blaming Obama.
