IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has appointed Brigadier General Effie Defrin as the new spokesperson for the IDF, a decision that has been approved by Defense Minister Israel Katz.
Defrin, a seasoned combat officer, served as the commander of an armored battalion during the Second Lebanon War, where he was injured in action. His military career continued with significant roles, culminating in his most recent position as the commander of the IDF’s International Cooperation Division.
Defrin is set to take over the role of IDF Spokesman from Brigadier General Daniel Hagari after a smooth and professional transition period.
Zamir expressed his appreciation to Hagari for his contributions as a soldier, his leadership of Shayetet 13, and his service as the IDF Spokesman during the conflict, and wished him success in his future endeavors.
