A Brooklyn wigmaker accused of causing a horrific crash that killed a young mother and her two daughters allegedly told emergency responders that she was “possessed” and claimed “had the devil in me,” according to law enforcement sources on Sunday, the NY Post reports.
Miriam Yarimi, 35, who now faces manslaughter charges in connection to the deadly incident in Gravesend on Shabbos afternoon, was incoherent and disoriented when Hatzolah responders arrived at the scene and found her Audi flipped over, sources told The Post.
In the days leading up to the tragedy, Yarimi had reportedly been making paranoid claims about being targeted by the CIA. She is currently being held in the prison ward at Bellevue Hospital, undergoing a psychiatric assessment before she is brought before a judge, sources said.
This afternoon, the heartbreaking levayah was held for 32-year-old Natasha Saada and her daughters Diana, 7, and Deborah, 5. Her 4-year-old son, Philip, Pinchos Raphael ben Sarah, remains in critical condition from injuries sustained in the crash.
Following the levayah, which is concluding as of this writing, the aronos will be flown to Eretz Yisroel for kevurah.
At the time of the deadly crash, Yarimi’s driver’s license had been suspended, and she declined to answer any questions from police, instead requesting an attorney, sources said.
Her vehicle, an Audi bearing the vanity plate “WIGM8KER,” has a troubling driving history, with more than 93 traffic infractions — including at least 20 violations for speeding — amounting to over $10,000 in fines, according to public records.
Among the numerous violations is a ticket issued on March 16 for allegedly speeding through a school zone in Brooklyn. Records also show 20 speed-camera citations and five red-light tickets issued since August 2023.
Dashcam video from the scene shows the moment the Audi, flipped on its side, barreled into the family as they attempted to cross the street. Several others were also hurt in the devastating crash. Authorities say the car first collided with an Uber before veering onto the sidewalk and striking the victims.
