This is a message from a local frum Encore homeowner who works very closely with the Property Owners Association (POA) board. All of us enjoy the freedom to rent and use golf carts in Encore. It has become part and parcel of the yom tov experience. The vast majority of people enjoy the golf carts responsibly. But there is a small group of mostly teenagers who drive recklessly endangering their safety and the safety of others. In addition, there are parents who are allowing young children to drive golf carts around the neighborhood. Just yesterday, two people had to be taken to the hospital after falling out of a golf cart. We won’t even mention the horrific chilul hashem this is causing, as evidenced by tons of comments on the “local” community chats. The POA is under immense pressure from owners and the Osceola sheriff to enact some real restrictions on golf carts in the community. Its really selfish of some irresponsible parents who allow their kids to drive this way and potentially ruin it for all guests for Pesach and year round. Hopefully, it doesn’t take a fatality or really serious injury for people to step up and act responsibly. We implore you to use better judgment and DO NOT allow any NON LICENSED drivers to drive the golf carts, or we may all lose the ability to enjoy them. Thank you, and Gut Moed.
