The health department has shuttered the Yeshiva of Central Queens for violating a May 9 order prohibiting unvaccinated students from going to school, which health officials issued after a report of a measles exposure at the school.
The school, located at 147-37 70th Rd., won’t be able to reopen without the health department’s approval. Administrators did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The health department has now closed nine schools in an effort to curb a measles outbreak that has seen 498 cases citywide since it began last October. The other eight schools have since reopened, health officials said.

Walmart will now offer shoppers the option to have their online orders delivered the next day, following Amazon promising one-day delivery for all Amazon Prime members and spending $800 million to improve its delivery infrastructure to make this possible.
Walmart on Tuesday is beginning its rollout of next-day delivery, starting in Phoenix and Las Vegas, the company announced in a blog post. The option will be available in Southern California over the next few days. And it will expand to reach roughly 75 percent of American consumers by the end of 2019, including 40 of the top 50 major metros in the U.S., according to Walmart.
Walmart isn’t disclosing the cost of its latest delivery push. But the company says it’s been working on it for quite some time.

After two days of deliberation a jury in Oakland, California, has awarded a couple $2 billion in punitive damages, concluding that sustained exposure to Monsanto Co.’s popular Roundup weed killer led to their cancer diagnoses. The couple will receive an additional $55 million for pain and suffering and to cover medical expenses.
Seventy-six-year-old Alva and 74-year-old Alberta Pilliod used Roundup for about 30 years for residential landscaping, which the jury believed played a “substantial factor” in their development of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Alva was diagnosed in 2011; his wife, Alberta, received the same diagnosis four years later. They are both in remission.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich. was blasted by President Trump and his fellow Republicans after saying in an interview that it gave her “a calming feeling” to think of her Palestinian ancestors giving up their lives and their land to create a safe haven for Jews fleeing the persecution of the Holocaust.
On Monday, Tlaib accused Trump and GOP lawmakers of “spreading outright lies” about her.
“The Holocaust was a horrific persecution of Jewish people and should be remembered as such, nothing short of that. While I conveyed these sentiments during Yahoo’s Skullduggery’s Podcast, it’s shameful that right-wing extremists and GOP leadership, including President Trump, have twisted and misconstrued my words to spread falsehoods rooted in hate,” Tlaib said in a statement Monday.

The Torah tells us in Vayika, Perek Chof Gimmel, posuk chof zayin that the tenth day of Tishrei is Yom Kippur and one has to practice the five “inuyim.” One of the inuyim is not eating.

The 5-4 decision allows device owners to proceed with a case that alleges Apple has acted as a monopoly by requiring iPhone and iPad users to download apps only from its portal while taking a cut of some sales made through the store.

The legal age to buy tobacco and nicotine products in Maryland will be raised from 18 to 21, and the state will add vaping devices to the list of tobacco products, under legislation signed Monday by Gov. Larry Hogan (R).

ISIS extremists are using Instagram to promote jihad and incite support for terror attacks on the West, an investigation by The Telegraph has found.
The terrorist group are circumventing the platform’s security checks to post images and text celebrating the killings of “kafir” (unbelievers) accompanied by images of dead soldiers and beheadings as well as threatening terrorist atrocities on the scale of the Sri Lankan suicide bombings that claimed 253 lives.
Some posts brazenly use ISIS’s logo or images of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the self-proclaimed leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, as their profile pictures and urge followers to join jihad.
