House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told CBS’s “60 Minutes” that the left flank of the House Democratic caucus represented by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is “like five people” in a Sunday interview.
When Stahl asked for Pelosi’s thoughts on the left wing of the party pushing initiatives such as Medicare for all, which Stahl said were “allowing the president to say you’re all socialists,” Pelosi noted the GOP made similar claims when Lyndon Johnson led the creation of Medicare in the 1960s.
“This is an ongoing theme of the Republicans. However — I do reject socialism as an economic system. if people have that view, that’s their view,” Pelosi said. “That is not the view of the Democratic Party.”

A measles outbreak in Madagascar has killed more than 1,200, with much of the island lacking the resources to combat the disease, according to NBC News.
Only 58 percent of the island’s residents have been vaccinated against the disease, according to the news outlet, and medical experts say vaccination rates must reach between 90 and 95 percent to safeguard against outbreaks.
Unlike other outbreaks, such as a recent series in New York, that have their roots in misinformation and active resistance to the vaccine, Madagascar’s is largely driven by poverty and lack of resources, according to the news outlet.

New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority is investigating a complaint by a charedi man, who alleges that a bus driver refused to stop for him at a Brooklyn bus stop over the current measles outbreak.
The man said that the bus driver drove past the stop in the largely Orthodox-populated neighborhood of Williamsburg last week but that he caught up with it after it got stuck in traffic. The bus driver eventually let him on, covered her face with her sweater, and refused to accept the man’s transfer, while shouting “Measles! Go in!” the Brooklyn Paper reported.

The leader of the UK Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, who has been beset with antisemitism scandals since he took over leadership of the party in 2015, has been caught on tape admitting that evidence of antisemitism within the party has been “ignored or not used.”
The secret recording was obtained and published by The Sunday Times over the weekend.
The comments were reportedly made during a private conversation with Dame Margaret Hodge, a Labour MP who has been outspoken against antisemitism within the party and a frequent critic of Corbyn.
The discussion revolved around efforts to investigate incidents of antisemitism, and Corbyn’s desire to appoint Lord Falconer, a former government minister, to oversee them.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday praised the International Criminal Court’s decision to forgo an investigation into possible US war crimes in Afghanistan.
“Over the weekend, there was a very important development for the State of Israel and the international community,” Netanyahu said at the opening of his government’s weekly cabinet meeting. “The court in The Hague rejected the petition by the prosecutor of the international court to investigate US soldiers.”

Syrian opposition websites reported on Sunday evening that a Russian delegation had left Syrian territory with an Israeli coffin containing the body of Israeli spy Eli Cohen.
Cohen, an Egyptian-born Jew, worked as an undercover Israeli agent in Egypt and Syria before he was discovered and hanged in 1965. By the time of his discovery, Cohen had managed to climb the ranks of the Syrian Defense Ministry, becoming the top advisor to Syria’s Defense Minister.
Israel is not commenting on the rumors on Cohen that have been running since Sunday morning on social media. Cabinet ministers who spoke to Channel 12 News said they were unaware of such a development at the moment.
