This young, vibrant and loving husband, father, rebbi and friend made the ultimate sacrifice. At the tender age of 35, Rabbi Bauman gave his life in order to save the lives of his talmidim.

A federal judge put on hold President Donald Trump’s request for an emergency order barring House Democrats from getting his New York state tax records and gave the parties 24 hours to defuse the situation.
U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols in Washington said the order was intended to balance three interests: the president’s desire for a hearing, the House Ways and Means Committee’s contention that it is shielded from Trump’s suit by the Constitution’s so-called speech or debate clause, and New York state’s assertion that the court lacks jurisdiction over Trump’s claim against it.

Capital One, the Virginia-based bank with a popular credit card business, announced Monday that a hacker had accessed about 100 million credit card applications, and investigators say thousands of Social Security and bank account numbers were also taken.
The FBI has arrested a Seattle area woman, Paige Thompson, on a charge of computer fraud and abuse, according to court records.
The hack appears to be one of the largest data breaches ever to hit a financial services firm. In 2017, the credit-reporting company Equifax disclosed that hackers had stolen the personal information of 147 million people. Last week, it reached a $700 million settlement with U.S. regulators over that breach.

Roughly 1,200 Israeli Jews visited the kever of Yosef HaTzaddik on the southern edge of the city of Shechem last night, as part of monthly trip to the holy spot accompanied by Israeli security forces, including the IDF, Border Police, and Israel Police.
During security searches ahead of the convoy’s arrival, IDF forces discovered a pipe bomb hidden in the compound housing the kever. The explosive device was removed and destroyed by an army sapper unit.
Later, as the civilian visitors arrived at the tomb, Arab rioters clashed with Israeli security forces along the security perimeter outside of the tomb.

President Donald Trump commuted Monday the sentence of Ronen Nahmani, husband to wife who suffers from Stage 4 cancer and father of five little children, after receiving touching letters from three of them: Ariella, 11, Orel, 10, and Daniella, 8.
Ronen, a religious orthodox Jew and resident of Aventura, Florida, was sentenced in 2015 to 20 years in prison, a maximum punishment for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute synthetic marijuana.
His wife, Sylvia, told Hamodia “I’m still trying to catch my breath because I’m so overwhelmed, I can’t believe what happened and I’m so grateful.”
“I don’t even have words in the dictionary to describe how grateful I am, how blessed I feel and how I overwhelmed I am with the joy in my heart,” Mrs. Nahmani said.

EIsrael reportedly attacked Iranian targets in Iraq on July 19, the London-based Sharq al-Awsat newspaper reported Tuesday morning.
According to the report, the July 19 attack in Iraq was “carried out by an Israeli F-35 aircraft” at a military base in the Diyala province in eastern Iraq, 80 km from the Iranian border, killing some 40 members from the Islamic Republic’s Revolutionary Guards, Iraqi sources said.
The sources said the attack was aimed at a shipment of ballistic missile launchers that were recently transported from Iran to Iraq as well as positions of Revolutionary Guard officers and members of the Iraqi Badr Brigade loyal to Iran.

Two American service members were shot dead and a third wounded Monday in a rare “insider” attack when an Afghan soldier opened fire on a group of American forces at a military base in a conflict-torn region of southern Kandahar province, Afghan defense and police officials said Tuesday.
U.S. military officials here confirmed that two American troops had been killed but did not provide any details or identify the victims, saying they needed to wait until their families were notified. A statement from the U.S. Resolute Support mission here said only that two service members had died.

U.S. Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has signed onto Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-Minn.) resolution that supports the anti-Israel BDS movement.
Although the pro-boycott resolution introduced by Omar does not explicitly mention Israel, she told Al-Monitor shortly before filing it, “We are introducing a resolution … to really speak about the American values that support and believe in our ability to exercise our First Amendment rights in regard to boycotting. And it is an opportunity for us to explain why it is we support a nonviolent movement, which is the BDS movement.”
Ocasio-Cortez’s congressional office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The resolution also compares BDS to boycotts of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.
