There are Jews today who are desperately in need of a pair of tefillin. Through the “Tefillin Shadchan,” Chesed of Lakewood has been able to be a matchmaker for these pairs, giving tremendous zechusim to all involved.
“Many families may have a pair of extra Tefillin in their home. These Tefillin may have been belonged to a relative who passed away, or someone may have purchased a new pair and the old ones are not being currently used.  Even if the tefillin need some repair, many times they can turn into a usable pair once again,” says a project coordinator.

Bernie Madoff has filed a petition for commutation of the 150-year prison sentence he’s serving for his epic, $65 billion fraud.
The clemency request is pending, according to the US Justice Department’s website.
While it’s unclear whether Trump will consider Madoff’s application, a commutation would reduce the notorious crook’s sentence either totally or partially — and could eliminate the $170 billion in restitution he was ordered to pay following his 2009 guilty plea — but would not erase his conviction like a pardon.

British MP Matthew Offord of the Conservative party said Tuesday he believes Boris Johnson’s government will follow President Trump’s lead and withdraw from the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers.
Speaking to i24NEWS after Johnson’s victory, the incumbent PM’s fellow Conservative party member Matthew said they are not seeking any sort of military confrontation.
Still, Offord said there is a need for Britain to be “very firm” with Iran, saying he believes the UK will soon join the United States in withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers and reimpose sanctions, a catalyst for the recent wave of escalating tensions.
“We’ve now got to face that the nuclear deal is all but dead,” Offord told Calev Ben-David on The Rundown.

Cops have identified one of the punks who was caught on video dousing uniformed NYPD officers with buckets of water as they attempted to make arrests over the weekend, according to police sources.
The “person of interest” — described as a gang member in his 20s — was allegedly involved in the Brooklyn incident, which saw cops being drenched near 1400 East New York Ave., just blocks away from the 73rd Precinct station house in Brownsville.
“We will identify who was involved, and arrests will be made,” said NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan.

A Hamas spokesperson on Tuesday accused Israeli leaders of lying to the families of Israelis being held in Gaza, and said that while Israel still has an opportunity to recover the captives and the bodies of fallen soldiers being held by the terrorist organization, that could change.
At a speech marking the 5th anniversary of the 2014 Israel-Gaza war, Hamas military wing spokesman Abu Obeida said, “To the families of the captured soldiers, ask [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu, [former Defense Minister Moshe] Ya’alon and [former IDF Chief of Staff Benny] Gantz where they left your children. Ask Rafi Peretz, the army’s [fomer] chief rabbi, how they mislead you with certain information for cheap political ends.”

A missionary group operating in the coastal city of Ashdod has been reaching out to local children, a missionary watchdog group warned Wednesday, distributing gift boxes in public parks.
According to a report by the Yad L’Achim group, which monitors missionary activity in Israel, Dutch Christian missionaries from the ‘Beit Hillel’ center were spotted handing out gift boxes to local children in Ashdod parks.
While Yad L’Achim said the gift boxes handed out recently do not contain missionary material, “the writing is on the wall.”

It’s beginning to sink in. What a loss! Our beloved Rebbe, Rav Dovid Trenk ztz”l, was the most vibrant, lively, loving person that we ever encountered. His boundless energy, constant enthusiasm and perpetual positivity were incredible! He was always there for us, he believed in us and he uplifted us. And he made us believe in ourselves so that we became better people and we accomplished more and reached higher goals.
And now he’s gone! And we miss him! So much!
