Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas claimed on Monday that Europe created Zionism and Israel.
“You all know Europe is the one that invented — this slightly annoys our neighbors — Zionism and Israel,” Abbas said at a PA Cabinet meeting. “It is the one that invented it. Let’s not fool ourselves. This is what history says. Whoever has something that refutes this history, go ahead.”
Abbas did not explain how he believes Europe created Zionism and Israel. However, he has previously made similar comments.
In a speech in January 2018, the PA president said, “Israel is a colonial project with no relationship to Judaism,” quoting Abdul Wahab al-Messiri, an Egyptian writer who authored the “Encyclopedia of Jews, Judaism and Zionism.”

President Trump on Monday chastised The New York Times for its coverage after the newspaper’s opinion section apologized for a political cartoon that was widely criticized for its use of anti-Semitic tropes.
“The New York Times has apologized for the terrible Anti-Semitic Cartoon, but they haven’t apologized to me for this or all of the Fake and Corrupt news they print on a daily basis,” Trump tweeted.
“They have reached the lowest level of ‘journalism,’ and certainly a low point in @nytimes history!” he added.

Bochurim at Mir Yeshiva on Sunday night arrived at their dormitory building to discover that their rooms had been trashed, Arutz Sheva reported.
Photos of the scene showed personal items thrown on the floor, broken drawers, and general chaos.
One of the students told the site that up to 3000 NIS ($829) in cash had been stolen.
Israel Police officers arriving at the scene opened an investigation into the incident.

An El Al flight from Israel to Warsaw was forced to make an emergency landing Monday morning at Ben-Gurion International Airport after experiencing a technical problem.
The pilot alerted air-traffic controllers that he needed to return to the airport and safely landed the plane. Ambulances and emergency vehicles were rushed to the site, and the airport declared a state of emergency, delaying all arrivals and departures.
No injuries were reported among the airplane’s 138 passengers.
