The extremist “Lev Tahor” sect of some several hundred people living in Guatemala requested asylum from Iran, i24NEWS reports.
In a trove of documents found and filed on Thursday to the US Federal Court, one batch of documents reveals that the anti-Zionist cult pledged their loyalty to the “Supreme Leader and Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran” and requested “asylum, protection and religious freedom of the families of its loyal members in Cheshek Shlomo community.”
Members of the sect fled Canada en masse in 2014 after the country’s authorities began paying attention to the minute community over concerns of child abuse.

Israel’s national baseball team made history on Sunday when it qualified for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
In the final game of the qualifying tournaments, Israel defeated the South African national team 11-1, winning a spot for Israel’s burgeoning Olympic delegation.
With the addition of the 25-member team, Israel will now be sending its largest-ever Olympic delegation to Tokyo.
Baseball has never been a particularly popular sport among Israelis, where basketball and soccer are the favorites, so the team itself is largely made up of American Jews who came to Israel specifically to play for the national team.

President Trump told reporters on Sunday that he would consider releasing a transcript of his call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which is said to be the subject of an intelligence community whistleblower complaint.
“We’ll make a determination about how to release it, releasing it, saying what we said,” Trump said in Houston, defending his conversation with Zelensky as “perfect.” His remarks came hours after the president suggested that he had discussed Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden during the call.

President Trump on Sunday doubled down on his call for former Vice President Joe Biden’s dealings with Ukraine to be investigated amid reports of a whistleblower who is said to have raised concerns about the president’s interaction with a foreign leader who may have been Ukraine’s president.
“Now the Fake News Media says I ‘pressured the Ukrainian President at least 8 times during my telephone call with him.’ This supposedly comes from a so-called ‘whistleblower’ who they say doesn’t even have a first hand account of what was said,” the president tweeted Sunday evening.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu angrily fired back at the Arab Joint List for recommending rival Benny Gantz to be the next prime minister, insisting if given the mandate he would work to form a “broad national unity government.”
The Joint List said their decision to support Gantz stemmed from the necessity of preventing another Netanyahu term in office rather than genuine support for the Blue and White chair.
“Citizens of Israel, this happened just as we warned: the Arab Joint List recommended Benny Gantz for prime minister,” Prime Minister Netanyahu said in a video statement shortly after the Joint List confirmed their decision in a meeting with President Reuven Rivlin.

Sen. Mitt Romney said on Sunday it would be “troubling in the extreme” if President Trump urged Ukrainian officials to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden.
“If the President asked or pressured Ukraine’s president to investigate his political rival, either directly or through his personal attorney, it would be troubling in the extreme. Critical for the facts to come out,” Romney tweeted.
The tweet comes amid reports that both Trump and his attorney Rudy Giuliani have attempted to persuade Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy to investigate Biden or his son.
