Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett batted back Democrats’ skeptical questions on abortion, gun rights and election disputes in lively Senate confirmation testimony Tuesday, insisting she would bring no personal agenda to the court but would decide cases as they come. The 48-year-old appellate court judge declared her conservative views with often colloquial language, but refused many specifics. She declined to say whether she would recuse herself from any election-related cases involving President Donald Trump, who nominated her to fill the seat of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and is pressing to have her confirmed before the the Nov. 3 election.

In a national poll commissioned by Ami Magazine with 1,000 respondents, 83% of Orthodox Jews say they’re voting for President Trump, while 13% said they’re voting for VP Biden. In Ami’s last poll, conducted back in 2016, 54% said they were voting for the president, which marks a 29% swing in favor of Trump. The poll also found that 76% of respondents felt that President Trump is covered ‘mostly unfairly’ by the media – with just 14% saying his coverage was ‘mostly fair.’ JOIN THE TENS OF THOUSANDS WHO ALREADY ARE ALERTED OF BREAKING NEWS LIKE THIS IN LIVE TIME: YWN WHATSAPP STATUS UPDATES: CLICK HERE to join the YWN WhatsApp Status. Billionaire former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg is donating $500,000 to juice Democratic turnout in Miami-Dade County, a place where the party must bank a massive number of votes if it hopes to win the pivotal swing state of Florida. The donation, the largest ever made to the Miami-Dade County Democratic Party, could not only lift Joe Biden’s chances of winning the state, which would all but eliminate President Donald Trump’s path to a second term. The effort to increase turnout also could improve the fortunes of Daniella Levine Cava, the Democratic candidate for mayor of the county, whose victory could have statewide and national implications that transcend the local nature of the office.

For the third day in a row, dozens of inspectors have converged in Boro Park and Flatbush to enforce the recent COVID-19 restrictions placed on local businesses by NY Governor Cuomo. Inspectors were seen meeting in a group on Fort Hamilton Parkway near 45th Street, and another group seen on 18th Avenue and 45th Street. [SEE VIDEO BELOW] Dozens of summonses were reportedly doled out on Monday and Tuesday. The summonses are court appearances, with a possible fine (if convicted) of a whopping $15,000. On Monday and Tuesday the inspectors were from the NYC Buildings Department, and on Wednesday, the inspectors appeared to be from the FDNY.

Apple unveiled four new iPhones equipped with technology for use with faster new 5G wireless networks. There’s the iPhone 12, with a 6.1-inch display, the same as the iPhone 11 but lighter and thinner, starts at almost $800 and the iPhone 12 Mini with a 5.4-inch display at almost $700. A higher-end iPhone 12 Pro with more powerful cameras will begin at roughly $1,000; the 12 Pro Max, with a 6.7-inch display, will set buyers back at least $1,100. Apple said the phones should be more durable. In a move that may annoy some consumers, Apple will no longer include charging adapters with new phones. It says that will mean smaller, lighter boxes that are more environmentally friendly to ship.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, on Tuesday donated an additional $100 million to helping local election offices prepare for November even as some conservatives are stepping up their efforts to stop the funds from being used. The contribution brings the total funding for the election from Zuckerberg and Chan to $400 million — the same amount that Congress allocated in March to help fund election offices as they dealt with the difficulties of adapting to new voting behavior during the coronavirus pandemic. Election experts had estimated it could cost $4 billion to make all the changes, but Senate Republicans never acted on a relief bill from the Democratic-controlled House that included $3.6 billion to help voting officials.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday asked the Supreme Court to put on hold an appeals court ruling that Trump’s accountant must immediately turn over tax records to a New York state prosecutor, setting up a decision from the high court that could come before Election Day. The court could allow the immediate enforcement of a subpoena issued by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. or block it temporarily. Even if the court rules against Trump, however, the records would normally not be made public but turned over to Vance’s office. This is the second time the records issue has reached the high court. The court previously prevented the records from being turned over while the case proceeded.

A Dutch woman died after being re-infected with the coronavirus, according to Dutch media reports. The 89-year-old woman contracted the coronavirus months ago and recovered. She was tested again months later before beginning chemotherapy for a rare strain of lymphoma due to the harsh treatment’s effects on the immune system. Her results were positive and she passed away three weeks later. The woman’s doctors say that the second coronavirus infection was a different strain of the virus which makes it likely that it was a reinfection. “It is likely that the second episode was a reinfection rather than prolonged shedding,” said one doctor to the Dutch media.
