Martha Whiting-Goddard believes there’s power in voting — she’s seen it firsthand. Her great-grandfather, the Rev. John Henry “Jack” Yates, was one of a handful of freed slaves who founded Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in 1866, Houston’s oldest African American Baptist church. The church has historically helped shape the city’s political discourse, ushering powerful African American political leaders through its doors such as Booker T. Washington and women’s suffrage movement organizers. Parishioners here are planning to band together again Tuesday to shape the course of American history. They are heading to the polls to decide which Democrat should take on President Donald Trump in the fall in what many black voters say is the most important election of their lifetimes.

Why a building on Ocean Parkway needs you to make oceanic waves What is an ocean? An ocean is a vast body of water. An ocean nourishes. An ocean nurtures. An ocean waters. An ocean slakes. An ocean quenches your thirst. And makes you thirsty for more. An ocean is fathomless, deep, profound, inspiring. An ocean makes waves. You can swim in an ocean forever. The Torah is analogous to an oceanic body of water. The Torah is the Jew’s ocean of life, deep wisdom, practical guidance, and embracing community. DONATE NOW There is a building on Ocean Parkway that is about to culminate, spreading outward the ocean of Torah. There is a Rabbi, an ocean of inspiration, a wellspring of warmth, whose waves ripple across continents.

The Democratic presidential candidates are racing toward the biggest day on the primary calendar, when 14 states vote on Super Tuesday. It’s the day when the primary moves from retail to wholesale. Instead of one state voting at a time, candidates have to focus on contests in every region of the country with all types of voters. While Super Tuesday won’t necessarily determine who wins the nomination, it has historically been difficult for a candidate who performs poorly on the day to recover. Here’s a look at Tuesday’s contests: THE STATES Fourteen states hold primaries on Super Tuesday, including California and Texas, the two biggest delegate hauls of the entire primary season. California offers 415 delegates and Texas 228.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s associates claimed that “the establishment of a government is a matter of a few days” in interviews with the media on Tuesday morning. According to Likud MK Miki Zohar and Netanyahu’s advisors Yonatan Orich and Topaz Luk, the Likud intends to influence MKs from the center-left bloc to defect, thus reaching the desired number of MKs to form a stable right-wing bloc. “We already spoke with four to six MKs from the opposing camp. They understand that the only government that can be established will be led by Netanyahu,” Orich said in an interview with Channel 13 News.

It was an incredible experience to behold. DONATE TODAY People ask what is the secret of BJX? How does BJX make such miracle in our community possible, time after time again?

Election officials refused to handle the 4,076 ballots cast by Israelis in quarantine for the coronavirus in Monday’s elections for the 23d Knesset due to fear of catching the virus, Israeli media outlets reported on Tuesday morning. A later report said that Magen David Adom medics would count the ballots but ultimately it was announced that senior Central Election Committee officials, including Director-General Orly Ades, agreed to count the ballots. “As far as is known, the coronavirus is not transferred through objects such as ballots and there are no reports of the virus being transferred in that way,” the Israel Medical Association stated, adding that the public should act in accordance with instructions based on medical knowledge rather than fear.

The coronavirus panic is spreading worldwide but many people in Western countries believe that the real danger is in East Asia. But is life in East Asia really as frightening as believed? An interview with Chabad shlichim in East Asia, published this week in Kfar Chabad News as reported by Chareidim 10, says that life in South Korea, Japan and Thailand is pretty much the same as always. In Japan, there have been 961 diagnosed cases of the coronavirus, including 705 from the Diamond Princess cruise ship and 12 deaths.
