Presidential adviser Jared Kushner said Monday that President Donald Trump wants to help Black people in America, but they have to “want to be successful” for his policies to work. “President Trump’s policies are the policies that can help people break out of the problems that they’re complaining about, but he can’t want them to be successful more than they want to be successful,” Kushner said on “Fox & Friends.” Kushner, who is also Trump’s son-in-law, also criticized prominent people who raised their voices after the killing of George Floyd, a Black man who died in police custody, but then didn’t follow through and work to find ways to improve the lives of Black people in America.

The Jerusalem Municipality announced on Sunday that AID Genomics, an international group of medical tech companies, is opening the largest coronavirus testing lab in Israel in the capital city. The lab will have the capability to process 50,000 daily tests, with results available in up to three hours, doubling the number of tests currently available in the Jewish state. Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon said that about 150 Jerusalem residents will be hired to work in the lab, “directly injecting capital back into Jerusalem’s economy.” “This is huge news for Jerusalem,” Lion continued.

Qatar and Saudi Arabia could eventually obtain F-35 stealth fighter jets if they want them, Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz (Likud) told Ynet on Sunday. Steinitz, who is a member of Israel’s security cabinet, added that this possibility exists despite Israel’s opposition, especially to a sale to Qatar, which maintains strong ties with Iran and Hamas. “It should worry us. Ultimately, the US looks out for American interests,” Steinitz said, elaborating that US interests include competition for the sale of stealth jet from Russia and China. Steinitz added that the US had sold advanced aircraft to Arab countries in the past over Israel’s objections.

An amusing exchange took place between chairman of the opposition Yair Lapid and Finance Committee chairman Moshe Gafni on Monday, when in a rare collaboration, Lapid attended a committee meeting to support a vote nullifying tax exemptions for a Christian messianic organization. Lapid said that his support of the measure was not due to opposition toward Christianity but against missionary activities among Jews, which is against his belief in the continued existence of the Jewish people after so many of them were decimated in the Holocaust. “I came here to say that at times, collaboration crosses the standard political lines. And for those of you who believe in life after death, you have regards from my father,” Lapid said, causing the committee members to burst out laughing.

Sudanese and Israeli officials will meet in the coming weeks to discuss a package of cooperation deals to “achieve the mutual interests of the two peoples,” Sudan’s Foreign Ministry said Sunday. The ministry statement came three days after President Donald Trump announced that Sudan would start normalizing ties with Israel. The statement said the deals would cover agriculture, trade, aviation and migration, but did not provide details on the timing or location of the meetings. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu‏‏ tweeted Sunday saying that Israel was “sending $5 million worth of wheat immediately to our new friends” in Sudan.

Overpowering Democratic opposition, Senate Republicans voted on Monday night to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court in a move that will make the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals judge and Notre Dame law professor the third appointment to the high court by President Trump, solidifying his administration’s legacy even further just a week before Election Day as he seeks a second term. The move will likely solidify a conservative court majority for years to come. Barrett is expected to be sworn in by Justice Clarence Thomas at the White House on Monday night at 9:00PM. Trump’s choice to fill the vacancy of the late liberal icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg potentially opens a new era of rulings on abortion, the Affordable Care Act and even a potential dispute over his own election.

The Israel Institute for Biological Research (IIBR) will begin clinical trials next Sunday on a potential coronavirus vaccine after receiving the necessary approvals from the Health Ministry and Helsinki Committee. The human trials are considered the most crucial stage in the development of a vaccine. The trials will be conducted over several months and will include three separate phases. The first phase will include a series of tests on healthy volunteers aged 18-55, with the first trials beginning on Sunday, November 1st with two initial participants. If the two volunteers don’t experience any adverse responses, the vaccine will then be gradually administered to a total of 80 volunteers.

The Mossad obtained several vials of the Chinese coronavirus vaccine and brought them to Israel to evaluate its components, Channel 12 News reported on Monday. Hundreds of thousands of Chinese citizens have reportedly been vaccinated although the vaccine has not been thoroughly tested for its safety and effectiveness. Israeli scientists want to explore further vaccination options in addition to the Israeli vaccine developed by the Israel Institute for Biological Research in Nes Tziona, which is beginning human clinical trials next week. As countries around the world rush to the finish line in the race to be the first to develop a coronavirus vaccine, reports of espionage and cyberattacks on companies have increased, with some estimating that the source of the attacks is in China.

Following 24 hours with no coronavirus data update, apparently because of a technical malfunction due to the change of clocks overnight Motzei Shabbos, Israel’s Health Ministry confirmed less than 1,000 new coronavirus cases over the past two days. A total of 239 cases on Shabbos and 559 cases on Sunday were confirmed, with the positivity rate standing at 2.8% on Sunday. There are currently 13,911 active virus cases, including 506 seriously ill patients, of whom 206 are ventilated. The death toll has risen to 2,397. However, the low number of new cases is also due to the low number of tests performed over the past few days, with the number of coronavirus tests steadily declining in the past two weeks, a source of concern for health officials. It’s neck-and-neck, with President Trump just barely ahead in Rasmussen Reports’ first daily White House Watch survey. The latest national telephone and online survey finds Trump edging Democrat Joe Biden 48% to 47% among Likely U.S. Voters. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, while two percent (2%) remain undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.) Last Wednesday, Biden held a 49% to 46% lead, but the race has been tightening since early in the month. This is the first time Trump has been ahead since mid-September. (Source: Rasmussen)
