Lufthansa Group has extended its suspension of flights to Tel Aviv, Tehran, Beirut, Amman, and Erbil through August 21 due to escalating tensions in the Middle East. The IDF announced that Sgt. Omer Ginzburg, a 19-year-old paratrooper from Kiryat Tivon, was killed in action during fighting in the southern Gaza Strip yesterday. Ginzburg, a member of the Paratroopers Brigade’s 101st Battalion, succumbed to injuries sustained in a sniper attack claimed by Hamas in Khan Younis. His tragic death brings the total number of Israeli fatalities in the ongoing ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and related military operations along the border to 332.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has ordered the deployment of the USS Georgia, a guided missile submarine, to the Middle East, underscoring the growing tensions in the region. In addition to the submarine deployment, Secretary Austin has also directed the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group to expedite its deployment to the Middle East.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Monday that Israel has been fortifying its defenses in anticipation of a potential attack from Iran and Hezbollah. “We are in the days of vigilance and readiness, the threats from Tehran and Beirut may materialize, and it is important to explain to everyone that readiness, preparedness, and vigilance are not synonyms for fear and panic,” Gallant said. The Defense Minister assured that Israel has been working tirelessly to bolster its defenses while also developing offensive options for response or preemptive actions if necessary.

A rocket was launched from the southern Gaza Strip towards the Israeli border community of Ein Hashlosha a short time ago, triggering sirens in the area. The IDF confirmed that the rocket struck an open area, fortunately causing no injuries.

IDF: Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in northern Israel, approximately 30 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon toward the area of Kabri, a number of which fell in open areas. No injuries were reported. The IDF is striking the sources of fire.
