A 16-year-old boy from Brooklyn is in critical condition after being struck by a car while walking on 17th Avenue between 53rd and 54th.
Hatzolah members treated the boy and gave him CPR on site before transferring him to Maimonides Hospital for further treatment.

A 16-year-old boy was placed under arrest earlier today for the assault of a chassidic man in Williamsburg last week.
The teenager was captured on camera running to approach the man, throwing a punch at his head and taking off in the other direction.
The alleged assailant, whose name has not been released, was apprehended by the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force and charged with hate crime assault, aggravated harassment.

Less than a year after the terrible blaze in the city of Beitar Illit in which Efrat Gindburg, 4, and Zvi Ginsburg, 2, perished, their parents, Rabbi and Mrs. Reuven Yehoshua Ginsburg, celebrated the birth of triplets this morning, welcoming a son and two daughters to this world.
The aforementioned fire took place on Rechov Knesses Mordechai in Beitar Illit at the end of the month of Tishrei.
Reb Reuven Yehoshua is a son of Rav Shlomo Ginsburg, R”M at Yeshivas Harei Yehuda in Moshav Bais Meir, and a grandson of the famed mashgiach, Rav Chatzkel Levenstein zt”l. Mrs. Ginsburg, a daughter of Rav Nosson Dovid Shapiro of Mosad Harav Kook, is a teacher at Talmud Torah Orchos Chaim.

Danish police have arrested a man believed to have been involved in the Tuesday stabbing of Jewish woman in her 60s in the city of Helsingborg in southern Sweden, according to Swedish media reports.
The suspect was arrested after crossing the border into Denmark. His identity has yet to be made public by police.
The victim, who is in serious condition, is believed to be the wife of a senior member of the local Jewish community.
According to local reports, the attacker stabbed her nine times while she was on her way to work on Tuesday. The woman reportedly collapsed and cried for help, and was taken to a nearby hospital by first responders.
A manhunt was launched after the attacker fled the scene.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Tuesday sent a letter to leaders of Yahadut HaTorah following their request to prevent chillul Shabbos during the Eurovision Song Contest this coming weekend to reassure them that the contest is not government run and the government does not sanction chillul Shabbos.
“I would like to make it clear that the Eurovision Song Contest is a singular international event set in advance by international standards that are not under government control and are managed exclusively by the public broadcasting corporation and not by the government,” Netanyahu wrote.

 

Rabbi Asher Weiss, one of the leading halachik authorities, participated in the biennial convention of the Conference of European Rabbis in Antwerp, Belgium this week.
In his remarks, Rabbi Weiss spoke clearly and decisively on the phenomenon of people choosing not to receive vaccinations or to vaccinate their children.
“It’s a halakhic obligation to vaccinate our children,” Rabbi Weiss said.
“This is not a recommendation. It’s a halakhic obligation. It is a chiyuv (obligation) to vaccinate our children, and those who do not vaccinate their children, that is a violation of a halakhik obligation,” the rabbi said, warning of the danger of spreading diseases such as the measles.
