Larry Snelling, superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, announced that the city is adding one felony count of terrorism and one felony count of a hate crime to the 14 felony charges brought against Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi.
Abdallahi, 22, is accused of shooting a 39-year-old Jewish man, as well as firing at police officers and paramedics on Oct. 26. Snelling said that investigators found evidence on the accused gunman’s phone that indicated that he deliberately targeted Jews.
“We did not secure these charges because of public pressure” or media coverage, the police official said, speaking at a press conference at 4:30 p.m. local time at Chicago Police Department headquarters.

Rav Kalman Ber has been chosen as Israel’s Ashkenazi chief rabbi for the upcoming decade. In the second voting round, he secured a 77-58 victory over Rav Micha Halevi, after an initial election earlier this month left both candidates with an equal number of votes.
Previously, Rav Ber held the position of Ashkenazi city rabbi in Netanya. He received strong backing from the Degel HaTorah party.
After the first voting round, Rav Ber gained additional support from those who opposed Rav Halevi. Rav Halevi had initially committed to refraining from running unless selected by a designated committee to represent the Religious Zionist community.
Rav Halevi garnered support from Bezalel Smotrich’s Religious Zionism party and Shas.

Thousands gathered in Bnei Brak to honor those who have fallen in the ongoing war. The event included the completion of 2,000 masechtos of Mishnah and Gemara, which had been learned over recent months in memory of the fallen.
Various rabbonim attended, including Rav Meir Mazuz, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Kisei Rachamim, Chief Rabbi Rav Dovid Yosef, and former Chief Rabbi Rav Yisroel Meir Lau.
In his speech, Rav Yosef addressed the topic of chareidi army enlistment, stating, “We care about the people of Israel. We feel the nation’s pain and study to merit the soldiers.”
Rav Mazuz spoke about the importance of remembering those who serve in battle, affirming that “their (heavenly) wages are guaranteed.”

On Wednesday a Chabad school in Kyiv, Ukraine suffered “significant structural damage” following a Russian drone attack.
Israel’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Michael Brodsky, confirmed the strike occurred, along with local authorities.  The drone attack damaged the Perlina school, part of the Or Avner Chabad educational network.
Baruch Hashem no one was injured inside the school, however 9 people were injured in a nearby  multistory residential building, according to the Kyiv Military Administration.

Only days away from the November 5th Presidential election, new signs supporting former President Trump have begun to appear in Frum communities.
The signs match the branding of similar pro-Trump signs around the US, and feature “Trump” in large letters, along with the phrase “Good for the Jews” in Hebrew.   In smaller letters at the bottom of the sign, the words “Yidden for Trump” are written, along with the phrase “Stop Kvetching, Start Voting,” transliterated with Hebrew letters.
The signs originally began appearing in the Frum community of Teaneck, NJ, and have now began spreading to additional Frum neighborhoods.

In response to inquiries from roshei yeshiva regarding whether to interrupt or shorten bein hazemanim and how to instruct talmidim on their behavior during this time, Rav Asher Deutsch stated, “The arrangements and regulations of the yeshivos are founded on the heights of holiness and were established by our revered rabbeim, may their memories be a blessing. We have no authority to change them in any way.”
Rav Deutsch emphasized the importance of maintaining the regular bein hazemanim schedule during this period, particularly in light of the current state of distress affecting the Jewish people.
