Officials have charged a man they say started a fire in New Jersey with sparks created by spent shotgun rounds. The blaze ravaged through 350 acres last week, with smoke from the fire creating a haze over New York City and much of the tri-state region. Richard Shashaty, 37, of Brick Township, New Jersey, was charged with arson and firearms-related violations in connection to the Jackson Township blaze, now dubbed the “Shotgun Fire.”

Dutch Justice and Security Minister David van Weel addressed a letter to parliament’s lower house on Shabbos, stating that he will lead an investigation into the violent attack on Israeli soccer fans, including reviewing missed warnings from Israeli intelligence.
The minister confirmed that Thursday’s incidents were rooted in anti-Semitism, according to Volkskrant.
“Everything points to the fact that people were attacked and threatened yesterday because of their origin, their religion and their Jewish background,” he said on Friday.
Van Weel noted in his letter, “An investigation is still being conducted on possible warning signs from Israel.”

The man accused of attempting to kidnap a Jewish child from his father in Brooklyn, NY has been taken into custody.
Previously, Matzav.com released security camera footage (below) from Crown Heights capturing the alarming moment. The video shows a frum father walking with his two young children when, suddenly, a masked individual attempts to grab one of the children. The father manages to hold onto his child, forcing the attacker to flee the scene.
The New York Police Department promptly launched an investigation, and the suspect has now been apprehended.

In Amsterdam, Maccabi Tel Aviv fans have faced a series of violent attacks following Thursday evening’s soccer game between Maccabi and Ajax.
On Monday, the Spanish publication AS reported that a pro-Palestinian group was planning a demonstration outside the stadium, intending to target the Israeli team and its supporters. By Tuesday, it was further reported that Mossad agents would be accompanying Maccabi’s standard security team to enhance protection for the fans and players.
Earlier on Thursday, NL Times stated that a number of individuals had been detained due to unrest in the area. However, Amsterdam police have yet to clarify if those arrested were soccer fans or activists from the pro-Palestinian protests.
