At his levayah on Erev Shabbos in Stamford, Connecticut, Senator Joe Lieberman z”l was remembered by political allies and even a former foe as a “mentch” who both bridged and defied partisan political divides.
Former Vice President Al Gore, who ran for president on a Democratic ticket with Lieberman in the 2000 election, remarked, “They find it in the way Joe Lieberman lived his life: friendship over anger, reconciliation as a form of grace. We can learn from Joe Lieberman’s life some critical lessons about how we might heal the rancor in our nation today.”

Rav Yisroel Alter, the Beis Yisroel, became the Rebbe of Gur at a time of deep darkness. Just a few years earlier, tens of thousands of Gerrer chassidim had perished in the Holocaust, and the few who’d survived faced the daunting challenge of beginning new lives.
Rav Yisroel became the Rebbe – and he rebuilt a world, miraculously leading Gerrer chassidus to almost unimaginable levels of greatness.
At the same time he was a loving, empathetic, wise shepherd, gently and patiently giving people the time and space they needed to grow.

Baltimore’s Jewish community is on edge after the armed carjacking of a Jewish man on his way to shul this morning in the Ranchleigh neighborhood of the city.
At about 7:15 a.m., two masked black thugs stole a Kia Optima on Clarington Road and then abandoned it near Kehillas Meor Hatorah on Pebble Brook Road.
Spotting a Jewish man en route to shul, the perps then gave chase. The man managed to escape, but the assailants proceeded to pummel another Jewish man, who had parked his car.
The motorist was thrown out of his vehicle, tossed to the ground, and attacked, with the thugs stealing his wallet before fleeing in their original car.

A major bridge in Baltimore collapsed after being hit by a freighter at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, sending at least eight people from a construction crew into the water as a large section of the bridge crashed into the Patapsco River. The container ship, traveling at a relatively rapid speed of about eight knots, lost power in the moments before it struck the bridge, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) said at a news conference.

Hundreds upon hundreds of people gathered at Beth Medrash Govoha’s Bais Aron in Lakewood, NJ, for the Purim mesibah last night. The gathering was an uplifting one, with beautiful singing and divrei Torah from the rosh hayeshiva, Rav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler.
For the first time, the event began with the recitla of Tehillim, led by Rav Aharon Schustal, in light of the current matzav in Eretz Yisroel and around the world.
At the mesibah, the music was once again directed by Shloime Friedman, with singing led by Mishpachas Brodt.

In a rather unconventional act of protest, a prominent activist from the borough took center stage at City Hall, aiming to make a statement that was as bold as it was cheesy.
Scott LoBaido, an artist and conservative figure from Staten Island, made waves by flinging slices of pizza over the fence surrounding City Hall. His actions were in direct response to a recently implemented regulation mandating restaurants using coal and wood-fired ovens to invest in costly emission-reducing equipment.
Captured in a video circulating on social media, LoBaido, accompanied by another protestor, was seen tearing slices from pizza boxes and launching them onto the grounds of City Hall.
