The NYPD is investigating a shots fired incident in Boro Park early Sunday morning. As can ben seen in the attached video footage, a vehicle with with two suspects pulled up on 10th Ave and 45th street, two men calmly walk out and and openfire into the air. Six shell casings were recovered by Detectives. The two men then get back into their vehicle and drive away. The NYPD and Boro Park Shomrim are inveistigating the incident.

A planned $11 billion rail tunnel seen as a key to train travel up and down the northeastern U.S. received a boost Friday with a crucial, and long sought, federal environmental approval. The record of decision announced by the Department of Transportation means the project to build a new Hudson River tunnel connecting New York and New Jersey can push ahead with engineering and design work. The DOT’s approval also is expected to smooth the way toward the awarding of federal grants the project needs to begin construction. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said there’s money in President Biden’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan that could fund the project: it would direct $85 billion to update and replace subway cars and repair aging tracks and stations.

A construction worker died Thursday after falling from the roof of a two-story building, city officials said, the third fatal incident involving a construction worker in just over a week. The Department of Buildings said the worker fell 40 feet at the site on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, where a demolition project is underway. The worker was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the department is investigating. On Saturday, a worker in Queens fell to his death from a scaffold at a building under construction. On May 19, a worker was killed and a second worker injured in an elevator fall at a building renovation in the Bronx.

The man accused of shooting and injuring three people in Times Square earlier this the month has been charged after arriving in New York from Florida where he was arrested. Farrakhan Muhammad, 31, is charged with attempted murder and multiple counts of assault, reckless endangerment and criminal use of a firearm, the New York Police Department said on Friday. Muhammad has denied that he is responsible for the shooting on May 8 that wounded two women and a 4-year-old girl. The victims did not know each other. New York Police Department Chief of Detectives James Essig has said that Muhammad was identified as the gunman by his brother, who told officers he was the intended target of the shooting. U.S.

Two-thirds of adults in New York have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the latest federal data. At the same time, hospitalizations statewide are down to 1,143 patients, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Saturday. The total is the lowest since Oct. 31. “Our numbers have been trending in the right direction – reaching a record low since the start of this pandemic – and they continue to do so because of what the people of this state have done,” the Democratic governor said in a statement. On the vaccine front, about 46% of 20 million residents are fully vaccinated, according to data as of Friday from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The national average is at 40%.

Employers aren’t allowed to refuse paid sick days if people feel ill after getting a dose of the vaccine, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Thursday. Cuomo said the state’s labor department will issue guidance that makes it clear that employees can take a paid sick day to recover from rare but potential side effects from the COVID-19 vaccine. Federal health officials say the vaccine is safe and that side effects from the COVID-19 vaccine aren’t unusual: some people have reported fever, chills, nausea, a sore arm, fatigue or headache after receiving a dose.

Two major Jewish organizations were among the recipients of more than half a million dollars in funding from Brooklyn Borough Hall, announced Borough President Eric Adams at a press conference held today in front of the NYPD’s 90th Precinct in Williamsburg. Flanked by a group of at risk high schoolers who take part in a unique mentoring program with officers at the 90th Precinct, Adams presented symbolic checks earmarked for safety improvements, including security cameras, to the United Jewish Organizations of Williamsburg and the Sephardic Community Center. Adams observed that security cameras have proven to be an effective tool in the fight against crime.

A victim of a massive crash on Route 17 on Wednesday, is thanking Hashem for the ness that he, his wife, and another passenger had. The man was travelling in the rain, when suddenly his vehicle began swerving and lost control. As can be seen in the attached photos, the vehicle was destroyed.
