A series of intense Israeli airstrikes hit Hezbollah’s main headquarters in one of Beirut’s heavily-populated southern suburbs on Friday as blasts were heard throughout the Lebanese capital. The massive explosion was so powerful it rattled windows and shook houses some 30 kilometers north of Beirut. Ambulances were seen headed to the scene of the explosions, sirens wailing. The strike came an hour after thousands of people attended the funeral of a top Hezbollah commander who was killed the day before. The strike took place just after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed world leaders at the U.N.

As Operation Northern Arrows continues, Hezbollah on Friday fired multiple rocket barrages at northern Israel, Haifa and Tiveria. Beginning early Friday morning, Hezbollah fired a missile at the Tiveria area. The missile fell in the Kinneret and b’Chasdei Hashem, there were no casualties. Tiveria Mayor Yossi Neveah called the first missile that fell in the sea “a Rosh Hashanah neis,” saying: “The missile fell 20 meters from the shore – it’s a Rosh Hashanah neis for Tiveria residents.” Rocket interceptions over Tiveria: Later in the morning, Hezbollah fired another barrage of about 10 rockets at the Haifa area and nearby cities and yishuvim. A number of rocket hit sites were reported.

Rocket sirens blared across Tel Aviv and much of central Israel late Thursday night, with alerts sounding as far south as the Lachish Regional Council, around 12:40 a.m. The IDF said that the sirens were triggered by a missile fired from Yemen. An interceptor was immediately launched, and the missile was successfully intercepted by Israel’s Arrow Aerial Defense System. The number of global terrorist attacks planned by Iran against Jews and Israelis since October 7 has more than doubled compared to the previous year, according to sources from the Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency. The Jerusalem Post reports that Mossad has prevented more than 50 attempted attacks worldwide in recent months, significantly up from the 27 incidents thwarted in 2023. Many of these foiled attacks have not been made public, demonstrating Iran’s heightened efforts to target Jews and Israelis across the globe. Tehran has been increasingly motivated, pouring extensive resources into planning such attacks. Mossad has often worked in collaboration with foreign intelligence agencies, sometimes even in countries that do not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel.

The IDF spokesperson announced on Thursday afternoon that fighter jets carried out a targeted airstrike in Dahieh, a suburb of Beirut. “Details to follow,” the statement said. Senior Biden administration officials claimed early Thursday morning that Israel and Hezbollah are on the verge of a three-week truce negotiated by the US and France, Sky News reported on Thursday morning The officials told Sky News that a 21-day truce, negotiated mainly by the US and France, is expected to begin “in the coming hours.” “The ceasefire will be for 21 days along the blue line,” the officials said. “During that time, the parties will negotiate towards a potential resolution of the conflict that has been ongoing since Hezbollah launched an attack on October 8, to reach a comprehensive agreement along the blue line that will allow residents to return to their homes in both Lebanon and Israel.” According to the report, Hezbollah would not even be a signatory to the agreement.

Former President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Iran during a rally in Mint Hill, North Carolina, following reports that U.S. intelligence officials had briefed him on a suspected Iranian plot to assassinate him. The briefing, according to Trump’s campaign, came from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and revealed “real and specific threats from Iran” aimed at destabilizing the United States as Trump runs for president in 2024.
