Border Patrol on Wednesday released a shocking video of smugglers abandoning a 5-year-old girl and a 3-year-old girl at the border in the New Mexico desert in the middle of the night — after dropping them from over a 14-foot border barrier. The video, released by El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez, shows what she said was two smugglers scaling the fence and dropping each child onto the ground and harsh surface, before tossing what appears to be some belongings down. The two smugglers then are seen fleeing from the southern side of the fence. Chavez said the little girls were left “miles from the nearest residence.” They were picked up by agents after they were spotted via surveillance technology. (YWN World Headquarters – NYC)

As YWN reported before Pesach, students who were studying in Israel before Pesach will be allowed to return to Israel afterward if they have valid visas and they have documentation that they were vaccinated in Israel or recovered from the coronavirus. There is now more good news as Israel has also now approved the return of married students accompanied by unvaccinated children, the Chaim V’Chessed organization stated on Wednesday. This accomplishment is due to the considerable efforts of Rabbi Nechemia Malinowitz of the Igud of Yeshivas and Seminaries. Currently, only the Igud can obtain permits for yeshivah bochurim and seminary students. Students should contact their institution, which will submit their information to the Igud.

Is Sea World targeting Jews? That’s the question thousands of Jews are asking tonight. YWN received more than a dozen emails on Wednesday, all stating that they watched employees of Sea World kicking Orthodox Jews out of the facilities for not properly wearing masks. But all of them claimed that they witnessed them turning a blind eye to hundreds of non-Jews who were doing the same. One person told YWN “We were in Sea World today, and were kicked out for not wearing a mask. Mind you the whole park is not masking and one member of our group of 6 people pulled their mask down to get a drink. We were embarrassed and escorted out as hundreds of people passed us not masking. The only answer is, we were kicked for being Jewish.

A maniac who was released from jail on parole for attempted murder, randomly slashed a Hasidic couple and their baby in Lower Manhattan on Wednesday. It happened at around 5:50PM on State Street near Pearl Street, when the man simply walked over to them, displayed a knife, began screaming at them, and proceeded to slash the family. Three people were injured: a 22-year-old father was slashed in the head, a 23-year-old mother was slashed in the lip, and their 1-year-old son was slashed in the chin, police said. According to the NY Post, a 30-year-old parolee who had been released from jail last month, was taken into custody by the NYPD, and the knife used was located.

Iran will not halt any of its nuclear activity until the US lifts all economic sanctions, an Iranian official was quoted as saying on the state-run Press TV website in response to reports of an imminent US proposal to jumpstart talks, Reuters reported. “A senior Iranian official tells Press TV that Tehran will stop its 20-percent uranium enrichment only if the U.S. lifts ALL its sanctions on Iran first,” the statement said. “The official said Tehran will further reduce its commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal if the U.S.

Israeli election officials Wednesday handed over the results of last week’s vote to President Reuven Rivlin, nudging forward the country’ elusive efforts to break the political deadlock, form a government and avoid an unprecedented fifth consecutive round of balloting. Rivlin is now tasked with choosing the prime minister-designate he thinks has the best chance of assembling a majority in the 120-seat Knesset. Among the contenders is Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, leader of Likud and Israel’s longest-serving premier who is shadowed by his ongoing corruption trial. Those judicial proceedings are slated to recommence next week, as Rivlin meets with Netanyahu and other party leaders.

The last three Jewish families in Yemen were quietly deported from the country by the Iranian-supported Houthi rebels, leaving only five elderly Jews in the country, according to a report over the weekend by the London-based Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat. The families, comprised of 13 Jews, initially resisted their deportation but ultimately agreed to leave as part of a deal with the Houthis in which Levi Salem Marhabi, a Jew arrested six years ago for helping to smuggle a Sefer Torah to Israel, will be released. Although a court ruled that Marhabi was innocent, the Houthis kept him imprisoned as a potential bargaining chip, a Kan News report said. The 13 remaining Jews are Marhabi’s relatives.

An Israeli coronavirus variant, has been discovered and health officials believe that hundreds of Israelis throughout the country are already infected with the new mutation, P681H, the Health Ministry announced on Wednesday. A total of 181 cases of the variant have been confirmed but health officials believe there are hundreds of numerous additional cases since sequencing is only carried out on a minority of test samples. The Central Virology Laboratory at Sheba Medical Center discovered the variant during routine genetic sequencing.

Yaakov Weingarten, one of the leaders of the Lev Tahor cult who is suspected of kidnapping and child abuse, was arrested by Guatemalan security forces on the first day of Pesach, YWN has confirmed. Many of the other cult leaders have already been arrested for kidnapping and child abuse and are already serving prison sentences. The leaders’ cruel practice was to kidnap children from their parents on Shabbos to make it more difficult for them to be pursued. Weingarten’s case will be heard in a Guatemalan court on Wednesday, according to local media reports. Kikar Shabbos reports that due to the Guatemalan authorities’ pursuit of the cult leaders, they have decided that they have no other choice but to flee to Iran.

Gunshots were fired in the heart of Midwood (Flatbush) today, the second day of Pesach. Sources tell YWN that the incident occurred at around 4:30PM on East 29th Street near Avenue K. It appears that a “road-rage incident” ended with a person firing shots at another vehicle. Thankfully, no one was hurt and the vehicles sped away. The NYPD and Flatbush Shomrim tell YWN that Detectives are investigating, and are informing the community that the incident appears isolated and was not directed at the community whatsoever.
