August 25, 2020 Dear Community Member, We want to advise you that over the last few weeks, and especially during the previous few days, we have seen an increase in COVID-19 cases. While B”H many of the cases appear to be relatively minor, there have been an increase in cases with more severe symptoms as well as hospitalizations and ICU admissions. With the summer coming to a close and people returning from vacation, as well as the hopeful start of the school year and upcoming Yomim Tovim, we would like to remind everyone of the following: NOW IS THE TIME TO BE EXTRA CAUTIOUS! If we aren’t extremely strict and careful with following the recommendations of the CDC, State and Local Governments, and other healthcare professionals, we can c’’v see a deadly resurgence.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a new interview that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden “should not concede under any circumstances” because she believes the final results in November’s election are “going to drag out” due to mail-in voting. “Joe Biden should not concede under any circumstances because I think this is going to drag out, and eventually, I do believe he will win if we don’t give an inch and if we are as focused and relentless as the other side is,” Clinton told former aide Jennifer Palmieri on Showtime’s “The Circus.” WATCH VIDEO BELOW: STAY WITH YWN WHATSAPP FOR BREAKING UPDATES IN LIVE TIME!  YWN WHATSAPP STATUS UPDATES: CLICK HERE to join the YWN WhatsApp Status. The past two weeks have seen a small spike in COVID-19 cases in various Frum Communities, YWN has learned. There have been a few new cases in Flatbush, Boro Park, Williamsburg, Crown Heights, Monsey (Rockland County), and some in the Catskills. While the vast majority of these cases have either mild symptoms or no symptoms at all, a few of the cases have resulted in hospiizations. In Boro Park, the Bobober Mosdos are warning their Kehilah about the uptick in COVID-19 cases in the community and urging those with underlying illnesses or over 60 years old to follow social distancing rules. A flyer in Yiddish from Bobov was sent out to their Chassidim (see below). The notice states that there are some cases who have been admitted to the ICU.

A study published Tuesday seems to attest that the risk of coronavirus transmission on airplanes is significantly less than what has been believed until now, an AFP report said. The study researched a plane flight from Israel to Germany in March, before wearing face masks to protect against virus transmission became prevalent and well before airlines began mandating the use of face masks on flights. A flight with 102 passengers from Tel Aviv to Frankfurt took off on March 9 for a flight of four hours and 40 minutes. Aboard the flight was a group of 24 German tourists, who had been in contact with a hotel manager in Israel who later tested positive for the coronavirus. German authorities were alerted about the incident and they tested the tourists upon arrival to Frankfurt.

All of Hamas’s leaders have gone into hiding underground in fear of Israel eliminating them through targeted killings, Ynet reported on Motzei Shabbos. According to the report, all senior members of the Hamas military and political wing are working from top-secret locations. Last week, both Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Benny Gantz threatened to target Hamas leaders if the escalation of terror from the Gaza Strip continues. In addition to the Israeli leaders’ publicly announced threats, Egyptian officials warned Hamas earlier this month that Israel will target Hamas leaders if the terror continues.

Eli Rozenberg, one of three investors interested in purchasing El Al but the only one so far to have received a permit to do so, has raised his bid of $75 million for a 45% stake in the airline to $101 million, Globes reported on Monday. Rozenberg sent a letter to Finance Ministry Director-General Keren Terner-Eyal and head of the ministry’s budget department Shaul Meridor stating that he is willing to purchase shares of $101 million in El Al’s public offering on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, scheduled for next week on August 31. Rozenberg’s raised bid is based on the price of NIS 0.67 that the Israeli government is willing to pay for any shares that are not purchased at the offering.
