More than 120 law enforcement officers from 30 different agencies in Virginia, North Carolina and Texas arrested dozens of people involved in an alleged drug trafficking ring and seized enough fentanyl to kill more than 14 million people in a sting called Operation Cookout.
The operation names 39 defendants in a conspiracy to possess large amounts of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and cocaine base. Officers seized 30 kilograms of fentanyl, 30 kilograms of heroin, 5 kilograms of cocaine, over $700,000 in cash and two-dozen firearms, according to a Thursday statement from the Justice Department.
Thirty-five of the defendants were arrested.

Multiple projectiles were fired from Lebanese territory into northern Israel, landing in or around the town of Avivim, near the Israel-Lebanese border, the IDF reported Sunday afternoon.
According to the preliminary IDF report, the projectiles were anti-tank missiles, which were fired at army vehicles near the border, as well as an IDF base.
An IDF spokesperson said that there were “a number of hits” scored by the missile attack from southern Lebanon, but did not specify if there were any casualties.
“A number of anti- tank missiles were fired from Lebanon towards an IDF base and military vehicles. A number of hits have been confirmed.”

Sirhan Sirhan, the Palestinian found guilty of shooting US presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy to death in 1968, was wounded in a stabbing at a California prison on Friday, according to media reports.
Celebrity website TMZ, citing unnamed sources, was first to report that Sirhan, 75, had been stabbed.
Replying to a request for confirmation that Sirhan was wounded, Jeffrey Callison, a spokesman for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, said an inmate had been stabbed at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility near San Diego.
The wounded inmate was taken to a hospital outside the prison and is listed in stable condition, Callison said in a statement, and a suspect has been identified in the assault.

Around 6,000 Palestinians rioted on the Israel-Gaza Strip border on Friday, throwing rocks, firebombs and explosive devices at IDF troops.
The soldiers responded with riot-dispersal means. One soldier was lightly wounded in the unrest, and an IDF military vehicle was damaged.
According to medical officials in Hamas-ruled Gaza, 75 Palestinians were injured on the border on Friday.
