It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Rav Shlomo Zalman Gertner zt”l. He was 84.
Rav Shlomo Zalman was born in Poland on the 7th of Iyar, a son of Rav Alter Dovid, and survived the Holocaust, being miraculously saved from the Nazi inferno.
Throughout his life, Rav Shlomo Zalman immersed himself in Torah study. He was one of the distinguished talmidei chachomim of Bnei Brak, always humble and never seeking honor.
Rav Shlomo Zalman was one of the venerable mispallelim at the Lederman Shul on Rechov Rachbam, the bais medrash of Rav Chaim Kanievsky.
Rav Shlomo Zalman was niftar on the 12th yahrzeit of his mechutan, Rav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz.
He leaves behind his wife and a wonderful of bnei and bnos Torah.
The levayah took place today at his home on Rechov Rabi Nachman of Breslov in Bnei Brak, passing the Lederman Shul en route to the Ponovezh Bais Hachaim, where he was laid to rest.
Yehi zichro boruch.
