Matzav.com – Last night, a sea of thousands gathered at Bell Works in Holmdel, New Jersey, to mark a significant milestone in the world of Torah learning. Men, women, and youngsters came together to celebrate the Daf Yomi Siyum on Seder Nashim, representing the halfway point through Shas.
But this event was more than that. It also held special significance as it marked the 100th Year Anniversary of Daf Yomi, initiated by Rav Meir Shapiro at the Knesiah Gedolah of Agudas Yisroel in 1923.
The siyum at Bell Works also heralded the beginning of Seder Nezikin, as the journey towards the next Siyum Hashas in 2027 continues.
The siyum event was produced, arranged and directed by Shmuli Rosenberg and fwdNYC. The event sponsors were Mr. and Mrs. Shmuel Yosef Rieder, Mr. and Mrs. Shlomo Werdiger, and Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Wilheim.
The festivities began with a lavish gala smorgasbord catered by Michael Shick catering, setting the stage for a night of celebration and reflection.
At around 7 p.m., the official program commenced with Tehillim, led by Rav Shloime Mandel, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva of Brooklyn, and the Vorka Rebbe, Rav Avrum Yishai Koenig.
Rav Gedalia Moshe Eisenbach of Eretz Yisroel followed, reciting a special mi shebeirach for the soldiers serving on the front lines. The mi shebeirach, written 75 years ago by Rav Menachem Mendel Gefner, was recited by the Tchebiner Rov and Rav Isser Zalman Meltzer.
The evening’s atmosphere became even more heartfelt as Ari Hill and Boruch Levine sang stirring melodies, with Meir Adler leading the music. Songs like Vehi She’amda, Shaarei Shomayim, and Acheinu resonated with the audience. During the performance of Acheinu, the names of all the current hostages in Gaza were displayed in Hebrew on the massive screens filling the atrium.
Several riveting video presentations followed, all produced by Kol Rom Productions.
A video featuring gedolei Yisroel of past generations was then shown.
The siyum on Maseches Kiddushin and Seder Noshim was then made by Rav Noach Isaac Oelbaum, rov of Khal Nachlas Yitzchok of Queens. Following the Hadran, the crowd burst into spontaneous dancing, their joy and enthusiasm filling the venue for a memorable ten minutes.
The haschalah of Seder Nezikin and Maseches Bava Kamma was presented by Rav Yeruchem Olshin, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoah.
The event then featured videos with divrei chizuk from Rav Meilech Biderman and Rav Shimon Galai from Eretz Yisroel, providing a global perspective on the impact of Daf Yomi and the enduring importance of limud haTorah.
The Mishnah Yomi siyum on Seder Moed was made by Rav Nosson Scherman, the general editor of ArtScroll/Mesorah.
As the evening reached its conclusion, kabbolas ohl Malchus Shomayim was led by the Novominsker Rebbe. Maariv was then led by Rav Aharon Brustowsky.
In this grand celebration at Bell Works, the participants not only celebrated their remarkable progress through the Yam Hatalmud, but also commemorated a century of commitment to Daf Yomi, which continues to unite and inspire Yidden around the world.
