At a leftist protest, innovative bochurim got creative, getting a stand-in to act as Rav Dov Landau arriving – and the protestors fell for the ruse, believing that the older rov was indeed the Slabodka rosh yeshiva.

The incident began outside Yeshivas Slabodka in Bnei Brak when a group of leftists gathered on Friday morning, calling for the recruitment of yeshiva students. Their protest was marked by shouts and the blaring of bicycle horns.
As the noise persisted, the protesters were asked to leave. The protesters brazenly refused to leave unless they were addressed by the rosh yeshiva, Rav Dov Landau.
Aware that Rav Landau was slated to attend a meeting with other roshei yeshivos, the bochurim devised a clever strategy to resolve the situation. With the assistance of law enforcement, they orchestrated a plan. Turning to R’ Yossi Rosenfeld, the yeshiva‘s cook, he agreed to don a hat and a long coat, masquerading as the rosh yeshivah. He accompanied them to a waiting car outside.
Presented with the spectacle of what appeared to be the rosh yeshiva flanked by his disciples, the leftist protesters intensified the cacophony of their horns. They later departed, allowing Rav Landau to depart safely for his meeting.
