It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Mrs. Lea Reichmann a”h from Toronto.
Mrs. Reichmann was the devoted wife of the legendary Reb Moshe Yosef (Paul) Reichmann z”l, the greatest machzik Torah of his generation. Mrs. Reichmann stood by him and supported all his endeavors.
Mrs. Reichmann was the daughter of the late Reb Moshe Feldman from London. She married Reb Moshe in 1955 in Montreux, following an engagement that began when he was just 15.
In mid-1956, the Reichmanns left Morocco for New York and then moved to Toronto, where most of the family eventually settled.
As a partner to her husband, Reb Moshe, the leading philanthropist of the generation, Mrs. Reichmann played a key role in their charitable endeavors, with Reb Moshe donating hundreds of millions to tzedakah.
Known for his leadership in the Olympia & York real estate development company, Reb Moshe was the leading figure in supporting Jewish institutions worldwide. Despite his success, he led a private life and avoided public attention regarding his business affairs.
After her husband’s petirah, Mrs. Reichmann continued to uphold Torah and chesed in a special way.
She leaves a legacy of Torah and yiras Shomayim, and she is survived by her wonderful family of talmidei chachomim and machzikei Torah.
The levayah and kevurah are being held in Eretz Yisroel.
